Harvard University Class of 2023 SCEA Applicants

@rêveuse Then that upload to the admissions office is when the transcript was received and processed by the admissions office.

The way the admissions site works is that anything sent to the admissions office after you’ve submitted your Common App. is supplementary material. And the only way that the material can be directly added to your application file is through the admissions portal. So that mysterious upload is some admissions officer uploading the most recent version of your transcript that they received, so it can be put into your application file with all of your other documents.

The admissions portal’s description says as much.

@Euclid314 okay thank you!! I was worried about what else it could’ve been

I am on a research abstract that was presented by my mentor at 2 national conferences. However, I’m the 2nd author on the abstract. Should I submit that abstract or only submit where I am the primary author?

@Fearthebull21 for SCEA or RD?

Hey everyone - I was just curious if those of y’all who submitted the writing supplement through the CommonApp see it as one of the items on the portal checklist? I submitted mine through the CommonApp and on there it shows that the submission was successful, however, there’s no separate “Writing Supplement” item on the Applicant Checklist on the status portal. Am I correct to assume that it’s included as part of the “Application” component of the checklist?

@dreamthief001 for the SCEA application

@Fearthebull21 it is way too late to send any supplemental material for SCEA

@graesontaylor You’re fine! It’s not “required,” so it’s not on the checklist on the portal. So if you submitted a 3rd LOR, it also won’t show up since it’s additional.

I suspect that 2am is the time their computer systems perform daily backup and updates. What we see as an upload at 2am probably happened earlier in the day. There could be documents that subcommittees uploaded for the whole committee to see during the final voting. So, if they did something in your account, that could be a good thing. It means they were looking at you closely.

Anyone from Lebanon? I still haven’t received an interview.

I submitted my research paper a couple of weeks ago after I submitted it for the Regeneron STS. Hopefully someone looked at that.

We’re almost there! Just over a week to go :slight_smile: The Crimson will probably make the decisions release date official this upcoming week.

@Dataminer I don’t think its notes from the committee. Instead, its probably the updated transcripts from counselors submitted directly to an applications application file (because the only way to add something after the Common App. is due is through that portal). Everyone here who has something mysteriously uploaded to their app. has also said they’re counselor has submitted a transcript with updated 1st trimester/mid-quarter grades.

But just to verify with the grades/transcriipts/midyear reports stuff, it IS okay to have a red x by the Mid Year Report on the status portal checklist at this point if we didn’t submit any first semester grades, right? That won’t make the application incomplete?

@reedmroue Are you currently in the US? From earlier posts, it looks like international students won’t get considered till RD time, which makes sense because many of them wouldn’t be ready till then (for whatever reasons). Also, there are a good number of international students currently studying at private high schools in the US, sent by their rich parents who might have donated to Harvard, who are first in line to be considered.

@Dataminer I am a Lebanese-American living in Beirut, but I’ve heard of many international kids getting in early so I’m not too sure.

@graesontaylor that is correct!

@reedmroue Oh, you are different than real international students. Those are not US citizens.

@Arnkim wa, where did you get the admitted students link?

@foolgirl you can search for it on google. Its not exclusive to anyone, only if you want to actually log in.
