@fleetfeet2016 Domestic or international applicant? Alumni or adcom interview?
@worldwide1 Domestic and alumni.
@fleetfeet2016 I submitted my app on Oct. 31 and interviewed mid-November. What you describe sounds like a good sign. Sounds like your application got to final committee and they wanted more information. Good luck!!
@worldwide1 thank you so much!
@logosoverpathosm I’m not @skieurope, but AFAIK financial aid and admissions decisions are evaluated separately. I have missing IDOC documents too, but you can technically submit them after you get your admissions decision (you’ll just get your financial aid decision later). I haven’t been contacted, but I’m not expecting to get in, so I don’t know what that means for you.
I wouldn’t try to read into it though.
@ohboy234 huh, I didn’t know you can submit them after admissions decision. usually your financial aid offer comes with you admissions decision. I realized I needed to submit my IDOC documents a day after Harvard’s deadline so when I called the people at Harvard, they said I needed to submit my IDOC documents asap if I wanted my financial aid package along with my decision (if I get in). Harvard’s deadline for IDOC documents was like the 1st of nov. on the IDOC website. I’m not trying to freak anyone out here but I’d call the admissions office on Monday to make sure if you aren’t. if you are sure you’re ok, thank goodness
If you are an early applicant and you don’t submit by Nov 1, you are fine. You just won’t get an award at the same time early decisions are released. If you are EA or RD and you don’t submit by the January deadline, that’s when you need to start worrying. At least, that’s my understanding of it. At this point, if I’m going to call admissions, I’d rather just wait until after decisions are released, because there’s no point going through all this trouble now if I get rejected a day or two later hahaha. Probably not this best attitude to have, but with my family’s EFC, I’m like 99% percent sure that we wouldn’t get any financial aid.
@ohboy234 I forgot decisions release next week lol ur right there is no point now
@worldwide1 Ok sorry if I sound like an idiot, but what’s an “adcom” interview?
@oRcHiD4 Not at all, haha! I just found out a few days ago as well. It’s an interview with an admissions officer, usually via Skype.
Hello all, I’ve been reading this thread for a while now. I was wondering how much race plays into the admissions process for early action? I am Hispanic student who applied early action, but does this have as much weight as during by the regular decision process? Is Harvard looking for more legacy and recruited athletes in the early round, and looking to make the class more diverse later on? I was just wondering how this plays as a factor for early action. I know I can’t get in on ethnicity alone of course, I was just wondering about how this data point plays out right now.
Is receiving an interview a good sign? Or does everyone get one?
@Potter123 Are you a domestic applicant?
Yup, I’m applying from New York.
@Potter123 IMO, although legacy/RA admissions do play a substantial role SCEA, Harvard still tries to build a diverse class.
