Harvard University Class of 2023 SCEA Applicants

@leahgriffith123 LOL np!! and same, I need to chill as well haha (I’m such a hypocrite but I’m getting lowkey angsty as the decision date is approaching)

You need to back out all of the “except fors.” All (or very close to all) recruited athletes apply SCEA, so that’s 200 +/- right there. Many legacies/donor kids will apply SCEA (unquantifiable). The math has been done many times, but IMO, backing out all those “except fors,” there is no statistical advantage to SCEA at Harvard. At some other schools, yes.

Correct. Harvard has a very high yield, but it’s not 100%. With a target class size of 1660, they will accept 1900-1950. But Harvard has said that it plans to accept fewer up front this year and to pull from the waitlist as needed to avoid the higher than expected freshman class of 2 cycles ago.

@nijusohc @leahgriffith123 lol I definitely need to chill, guess the stress is getting to me!

I couldn’t agree more. Harvard doesn’t open any more doors than the average university, especially for undergraduate. The problem is that most applicants just go by how schools are ranked, and then assume that the schools outside of the top 10 don’t hold much potential. Every university can do the same things that Harvard can, and there is no unique “student body” at Harvard that can’t be found somewhere else. If anything, you applicants should be proud that you have parents and other support willing to pay so much money for a private institution, because there are some kids out there so much less fortunate who work just as hard, but in the end they can’t afford their dreams such as attending an ivy-league. Attending Harvard doesn’t make you more special or a more qualified person for any career, and in fact, sometimes they can even be looked down upon. Harvard is not the best at anything because there is no such thing as being the best. Everything happens for a reason, and if you didn’t get admitted to Harvard, then it is clearly because there was something that didn’t connect you to what they value, not just because they didn’t have room or didn’t think your SAT score was high enough.

@pleaseacceptmeGT if your username, does GT stand for Georgia Tech?

Finally made an account. I’ve been creepily following this thing for months and I felt it was time. 2 days kids

Although, I do like both Georgetown and Georgiatech @oRcHiD4 @nijusohc

Just an interesting observation: applicant portal now says ‘Changes to your financial aid application status cannot be made at the moment. The form to request a change will be available again on Friday, December 14th.’
