Hey guys! Please chance me, and thanks in advance :)

Im from India.

SAT: 2400 (I got it in one sitting, but it took 3 tries)
ACT: 35 (super score 36)

GPA: 4.0 uw (however, my fresh. and soph. GPA's were about 3.7-8)

I do the IB diploma, and take the most rigorous course load available.

EC and service: (in no particular order)

I interned at a very rural hospital in India for about 160 hours in total.
I interned at an investment banking company during the summer.
I helped raise funds for a library at the local community needy kids school.
I raised $7000 by myself by approaching executives in various companies and donated it to a rural government school in a village.
Taught kids at both schools mentioned above for a total of 180 hours.
I co-founded a small non-profit that raises money to sponsor academically gifted teens who don't have the financial resources to take part in further studies.
I started a small sugar cane business in a very rural village to employ out of work residents, and the profits made from the business go to the local school.
Painted houses and fixed faulty lights/machinery in the village mentioned above.
I write for a magazine that is quite popular in my city. (Economics)
I was the manager of a play that my grade performed at a college campus, I also sold tickets and the profits went to the local community school.
I have attended a leadership camp for 4 years.

Model UN lead member - attended Harvard MUN in Beijing, China.
Class Captain (our student govt. is a little different than the usual ones in the US)
(Varsity) Cricket team vice-captain - represented my school in an international event, and won the tour.
I have been named an Honors Scholar (for academics, its not the same as whatever Honors is in America)
Played the guitar for 5 years.
Did Tae-kwon-do for 6 years
Played on the tennis bronze team for 2 years.

I hope my passion for education really shines through.

Thanks again for your time, and any input is very much appreciated.

You’re a fantastic applicant. If you were from the US, I’d say you could get in almost anywhere… It’s obviously harder for internationals such as yourself, but definitely apply. You just might get lucky!

I think that your grades/test scores will be perfectly fine! Your ECs are also really nice. Even though it might be harder for you to get in because of your international status, I think you still have a really good chance!

Ahh a fellow international indian!
I’ll be honest here your scores are pretty okay, but my brother had similar test scores to you. The only difference being he had a 4.0 throughout highschool, was captain of his basketball and football team, and was vice on his cricket. He had two business as well (how weird :O), but he had three internships. He fixed the sewer system of a local village, and writes for an established newspaper (the times of india). He’s written and preformed in plays in his school, as well as directed them. His community service with children was similar to yours (taught children), but also volunteered at an animal shelter. He was head of his schools magazine, house captain, and head boy. He attended Yale’s summer camp, 2 summers in a row. He was also featured in a list of Top 10 Indian students of the year, based on his charity work and overall grades. Multiple MUN’s with awards. Played the drums, and was featured in roughly 4 venues? He had multiple accolades (olympiads, robotics comp., spelling bee, and debate), and a few more things I cant remember off the top of my head.

Either way he was deferred from Wharton, and rejected from Harvard. So I really dont know what their looking for. Who knows though, you might get in.

The key to being accepted to business school is having very strong internships showing that you have great potential. If your internship was at a global investment bank, it greatly improves your chances. There are, unfortunately, too many Indians with impressive credentials.

Both schools are low reaches/reaches but you have a chance at both.

You’re looking good, I’m sure in your essays you’ll mention some of your experiences in the rural, something most applicants can’t say about themselves, so that’s good. And yeah, make sure you apply to many more than 2 schools. You have a good chance as anyone…
