Harvard vs. Yale... where???

Hey… i got into both Harvard and Yale and I am super stuck right now. I plan to major in poli sci / east asian studies and I have no idea what to do. I want to factor in social life, student body, etc. and make a decision… if anyone has any opinions about either of these instutitons… help me out!

I am asian american, totally into politics and such, and I want a place where there is a great social life… Harvard has Boston… but Yalies seem so much happier (with all those articles from Harvard students saying how Harvard sucks…)

Yale is a more fun undergrad experience. New Heaven is a dump, but you'll stay on campus except to get to Sally's for pizza!

Hmm.. i just got into Princeton too.. so now it comes to

Harvard,Yale and Princeton...

I love Princeton for location and beauty of college town. It's a bit more conservative and formal than Yale, so this is a personality question. What a problem! Good luck, you just can't go wrong!!

wow....congrats

i got rejected from Yale...but i think Yale offers the best undergraduate experience out of the 3
There's just a college feeling to it...the campus is awesome. As for harvard, i dont think all the undergrads bond as well...80% of the time there are more random non-harvard students walking across the gates and yard (including me lol...since the harvard yard has become a convenient cut-across in cambridge, and harvard seems to put so much emphasis on extension school and general secondary classes...)

Wow, ice!
3 of the best schools in the nation.
I wish I were in your position.

What were your stats?

in addition to HYP.. i got into MIT too.. but im not considering it at al...

my stats:
1480
800/790/730
3.9 uw gpa

some nice ecs
great recs
great interviews
first generation college student
blue-collar background

accepted at HYPM
waitlisted at Columbia
rejected by Stanford

yes...would you post your stats so we know what Ivy Leagues are looking for?

sorry....i posted the previous message before the stats were out......ignore the previous message.

what kind ECs did you have ????!!!! Your stats are really good.......

haha
you have it great..
but i do have a question:
i'm also an asian with a blue-collar background and i'm also a first generation college student..
how important are those factors and how did you put that kind of information on the apps?

All right, irock1ce, you know I'm incredibly biased, but I'll definitely go so far as to say that Princeton will offer you the best undergraduate experience out of the three. There's a great thread in the P forum about the merits of a P undergrad experience versus other schools, and many of them hold true (I think it's in the Ivy League hand-holding thread or something). You'll be among an incredibly diverse student body (in all different types of categories, from racial and religious to talents and accomplishments); you'll have the opportunity to work closely with star professors; you're at a beautiful, close-knit campus; you'll be in one of the top departments in the nation in almost anything you choose; and you'll have the opportunity to present a culmination of your entire academic experience at Princeton in the form of a senior thesis your senior year. Y and H are both incredible schools, but for undergrad, Princeton is second to none, in my opinion. Join the tiger family, man! We're going to have a blast these next four years...

stanford is the most arbitrary when it comes to admissions. God i wish i were in your shoes....i'd go with YALE!!!

theStones - its more than just that. make sure ur counselor and such write that into your recommendation and make sure that you come off as more than just the stereotypical asian american. My counselor called me in (he had to write recs for probably at least 150-200 kids.. and i was the only one he called in) because he was so impressed with my background and what I wrote for my senior profile. Not to mention my recommendations from teachers are "best in career" types that talk about the way I transcend the archetypal Asian-American stereotype...

Mosharma -
i was just an all-around leader. EVERYTHING I did, I was a leader in, never a follower. Not to mention my principal put me on his board of student advisors and such. Just get involved.. and be passionate.

hey rock any EC's ?
