Harvard

I am in Wigglesworth Hall!!!

How does this dorm rate to the others?

Did I get a good one?

Thanks

bump...................

From what I've heard on the Harvard thread, Wigglesworth is not bad. Apparently (this isn't coming from me!) the dorm "wiggles" because the subway runs underneath..

I'm in Cannaday Hall...

Good location!!

Next to dining and science!

:-) nice condition

I have to correct myself before somebody else does it...surely, it's caNaday hall

how do you check your housing assignment?? i logged in but didnt see anything..

hey Stanford..lol..I'm only a Junior in high school though :(. Stanford is my dream school. Hope to go there. You have any tips ?

lol...

Here is what you need to know (in my opinion)

1) Stanford is really unique. They like certain things and do not like other things. Research this because they are a little picky when you compare to ivy league schools.

2) You most likely wont get in if you are classified as "great". Your best chances to get in are if you are tagged as "different in an outstanding way".

3) If you are a math guy, try for Stanford's SUMaC's program... It is REALLY hard to get into. I realize they say about 1/3 get in, but I disagree. This year they said it was about 15-20% and all the people who apply are outstanding. This is where I would go back to number one on my list. You have to know what they want and integrate it into work sent there (problems). It EXTREMELY helps if you are out of the country applying for this summer program. Most of the people I know who went there were out of the country.

Tips

My only tip off the top of my head is to not think about Stanford only. Think about your contingency plan and what college you want to go to if you get rejected. It was really hard for me to think about this because I kept saying "I can get it, I will do anything". But, beware. It is tough. I have had many outstanding friends apply who have dreamed of Stanford and were outstanding and yet they got turned down. Don't be limited in your college views.

I hope this helps.

Oh wow, thank you so much! You are so helpful. I think I will do the Intel Summer Science thing next year though, instead. I know, I'm looking at other colleges too, like Yale. I'm going to visit them next year. Btw, after reading about your statement on being "unique" how exactly does that work? How are you unique? I'm kinda good at math, but I'm not a genius or anything..I'm not special in any way. I'm mediocre at everything. Jack of all trades. Also, what are some characteristics that Stanford likes? Thanks.

i'm sooooo excited, too!
