Reflection

Strengths: Test scores, course rigor, leadership, essays, unique primary EC
Weaknesses: Limited STEM ECs, Senior Fall grades
Why you think you were accepted/deferred/rejected: No idea honestly
Where else were you accepted/deferred/rejected:
Accepted PSU University Park, waiting on USC, UCSB, UCSD, UCLA, UCB, Stanford. Might apply Harvard/Columbia.
General Comments: Even if you’re feeling really good, don’t trust your gut. I was about 75% sure I’d get in because, despite my forcing myself to find weaknesses in my app here, it’s very hard to point out any glaring weakness anywhere.

Reflection

Strengths: I think the internship really helped. My essays were really personal and I think colleges like that. Being a woman probably helped as well. I know they say demonstrated interest is not considered but my overnight visit and interview probably didn’t hurt.
Weaknesses: My GPA is definitely not bad but no 4.0 either. I didn’t win any major awards like science fairs or anything.
Why you think you were accepted/deferred/rejected: No idea, I think maybe the rec from my internship mentor? I also think am a very good fit for the school culture. I am super sciency and nerdy but my humanities side is a really big part of me still.
Where else were you accepted/deferred/rejected: Nothing yet

General Comments : Looking at where my friends are getting in and not getting in, I see a lot of college stuff is just chance. I was one of the lucky ones. No one should feel bad if they don’t get in. You will do fine no matter where you end up. Best of luck to everyone.
