D22 waitlisted.

So if the result here is a waitlist, does that mean rejection/waitlist is now more likely at Rice, CMU, and ivies?

Exact thought here.

Somehow I have a strong feeling that she is in!!! Call it an instinct or whatever.

Haha, well your D better make room then, cuz she was waitlisted. Bummed, but glad she wasn’t rejected. Now we gotta see what happens tomorrow with the UC’s. She’s got good choices though so we are still grateful.

Congrats again to all who are in and good luck to those on the waitlist!

Absolutely not! Admissions is such a crapshoot, especially this year. We just can’t know what each college is looking for to shape its class, they all have their own unique priorities. Look at how weird Northeastern has been this year. I have read of multiple MIT and Ivy likelies getting waitlisted there yesterday. Good luck!

Do we have stats on how many applied and how many were admitted?

I haven’t seen any information on numbers for this year. Last year they had a total of 4,737 applicants and accepted 473.

Just a heads up for anyone planning on attending the admitted student day on April 10…if you want to stay nearby, book soon because availability is very limited already.

My senior just received notice that he was awarded a merit scholarship! Not PSP, sadly, but still unexpected welcome news.

Anyway, for anyone reading in future, scholarships may be awarded after decisions.

Congratulations to everyone who got in (and to their parents ;)). It is an amazing school.

We got our acceptance on 3/17 but still no news about the financial aid package. I’ve emailed twice and keep getting the same response-- basically that it’s in the final stage of the review process. Is anyone else still waiting to hear about aid? I know she didn’t get a PSP interview (:frowning:) and won’t qualify for need-based aid, but we’re eagerly awaiting news about merit-based aid to see if it comes even close to other schools she’s been accepted to.

strange…the financial aid letter normally comes with the acceptance. Good luck to you guys but we got nothing other than the $1,500/year National Merit Scholar award. I don’t think they give out much merit aid.

Hi, my son was accepted ED2 and we haven’t heard anything about the National Merit Scholar award (he’s a finalist). Did you hear with your daughter’s acceptance?

no, it wasn’t with her initial letter because they don’t get the list from College Board until May. We called and generally made a fuss because it was not very clear what she was entitled to. If you email them they will add it to the financial letter. Award for finalists is $1,500/year

Thanks
