Has a Canadian student ever been accepted into the Ivies without AP/IB?

I've checked all the stats out and all the people who have been accepted into the Ivies have IB or at least 5 AP courses and one person even self studied for all!! My school doesn't not offer either and it is too late to change schools!

What should my average really be to even consider applying to the Ivies? I want to study International Relations!

When is the latest one can submit SAT/Subject test scores?

Thank you and Good Day to you all (:

It really, truly is OK for you to email the admissions offices at the places that you are interested in, and ask them your questions. They will be able to tell you more about Canadians who have been admitted.

All the schools list the latest test dates they accept from the websites. If your school doesn’t offer AP/IB no admissions officer expects you to have taken it–that simple. That’s why GC’s write rec’s and school profiles are included.

However, you should know that if a significant number of your classmates are self-studying for the APs admissions officers generally consider all candidates from the same HS at the same time.

At UCs the latest sat dates were the December ones during your senior year, since the ivy apps are due later than UCs I would assume the December date would be their date too, but I’m not sure so check for the specific schools you want. The point is that you can take them during the beginning of senior year (that’s the 4th and last year of hs in the us, I don’t know if it’s different in Canada) and you’ll be fine. I don’t think they would kick you out of the running for not having ap’s if your school doesn’t offer them, that would be totally unfair. Good luck!

AP and IB don’t matter if they we’re not available. Ivies will want you to be very high ranking in your class and to have taken the hardest classes available. They will also want unusual accomplishments outside of the classroom.

Thank you all for your input. I was just trying to understand if I am “Ivy” material, I really do not think I am. I wish you all the best of luck for your endeavors! Good Day (:
