Hi,

I'm from India. I applied early to Stanford this year. Just wanted to know if internationals get admitted early if they want aid. I'm guessing not, but just wanted to check!

Let's hope we all get in!

Cheers

No, that's not true. International students do get aid at Stanford (that's what their site says) and it has nothing to do with the US Govt. I even know a couple of people at Stanford on 95% aid.

But I'm not sure if Stanford accepts internationals asking for aid early. Though I can't see why they shouldn't! I mean they allow you to apply early even if you are an international student and want aid. There would be no point of doing that unless they want to accept somebody during the early round. Still, I'm not too sure! Just wanted to check with you guys here.

really? that's strange, I don't think I heard her incorrectly. oh well. im sorry asaatvik, for my mistake.

My understanding is that they don't bar international students from applying EA and asking for aid, but because Stanford is not need-blind for international students, you are not as likely to get in early. My counselor attended a Stanford information session over the summer for college counselors and said that it is easier to get in international and early if you do not request aid, though it is hard to get in as an international early as a whole.

So basically there is a very slim chance, right? It's not like it's impossible. Or is it?

I doubt it's impossible, but you would need to be AMAZING to get in early with aid as an international. It might be harder from India because so many kids apply from there.

Hey,
Do you have any idea approx how many indian students are admitted to stanford each year. I'm applying from India as well
Thanks

1 or 2, I think. Max is 4 or 5

thats low... where else are u applying?

Don't ask! And this is not the right place to discuss it BTW. HYPSM, Caltech, USC (safety), Cornell, Duke, Northwestern, Upenn and 2 -3 more if I have time/inclination
