I will be going to CI with my daughter June 28-30 but I am combining it with a business trip so will not attend all events. If anyone has been THIS YEAR and can fill us in on what was worth attending, please do! How was the session for parents with each academic program, for example? My daughter is in the Elliott School.
The program has changed since past years so I am interested in hearing from people who have been this year. Were any of the sessions on finances, dining, etc. worthwhile?

Yes, I think it is worth going. If you have had other children in colleges it may not be significantly different, still I felt it was useful. I really enjoyed the “scenes from college life”. Just that one event made the trip worthwhile for me. Elliott school academic adviser was really good in her talk about the academic expectations in the school. It is not crucial that you go. If you can afford it and have the time, it is worth going, in my opinion.

We both liked it. I went to more events and sessions than I thought I would. I liked scenes from college life too and liked the honesty of the administrators at the sessions I attended. I didn’t go to any of the dinners or evening events. My daughter is in the Womens Leadership Program so I went to the barbecue on the Vern and the session about WLP there. I heard a lot of good things about the October parents weekend so I made reservations to go then too.

…“liked the honesty of the administrators at the sessions I attended”…
I second that. I felt the same. I also felt that for such a big University, the administration/staff that were present during the sessions seemed to genuinely care about the University, the attendees and answered my the questions with sincerity. I was impressed as well.
Yes, we are going for the October - Colonial Weekend - as well. Reservations are done
Good luck to your daughter with the WLP. Hope she likes the commute to the main campus.
