Hello Reader, I’m confused, I wanna double major in Physics and Mathematics and I’m thinking about City Colleges Of Chicago but I was just wondering whether anyone has ever transferred to UChicago from a community college or whther it is better to join a 4-year University directly?
You’d have to be really, really good for that to happen. Straight As for sure, and even then it is a long shot.
You generally would need a record from high school close to what someone applyiing as a freshman would have, A’s in AP classes, 700+ SAT IIs and so on. Plus U. Chicago would be very hard in math and physics.
If you can get in to UChicago as a freshman, that’s probably the easier path (not that getting in there is easy). Chicago attracts top students who don’t usually drop out so spots for transfers are limited.
You can get a great physics education at any university. University of Chicago is excellent, of course but if finances are a constraint, then starting at CCC and then applying to any physics program in the area will be fine. The courses that physics majors take are pretty much the same at any university and if you choose a school with a PhD program you will have plenty of research opportunities.
