I haven’t seen anything online from anybody that has been accepted for fall 2007.

Yes. My son has been accepted...but through a special program his high school offers.

RSquare, congratulations to your son and you.

Thanks. My husband is an OSU alum, so my family has some school history...unfortunately my son was thisclose for the honors program but is not eligible (apparently you cannot even petition anymore)..he was directly admitted to Fisher, though. That alone probably isn't enough, along with a nice OOS scholarship he received to coax him into attending.

Good luck to you!

Where is your son from? And why wasn't he able to apply for the honors programs--what was his SAT/act score?
If they wanted him to attend so much as to give a scholarship, he must have had good stats, correct? Or was it based on other factors?

Thanks.

From Illinois...28 ACT, 4.9W GPA. Typical stuff...good EC's, Varsity athlete...

does legacy mean much at osu, my dad went there, and i didnt c any question bout it on the application???

Unfortunately, I don't think so. My husband went there and you're right...there was not even a question on the application regarding this. (Although my son was admitted recently.) If you look in their special scholarship section, there are a few scholarships available to children of alums of certain class years...but none of them applied to us. I suppose if a parent had a wing of a building or library after them..that would be another issue.

1140/1600 1710/2400, 3.35 gpa, out of state? Any chance???

I think you will get into the school.

Raffi - I think it is possible you will get into OSU, but out-of-state tuition is so high, and you probably will not be eligible for scholarships unless you have excellent other factors. If you are an underrepresented minority, you have a much better shot at scholarships.

im not sure really which scholarships 2 choose, it says 6, where do i find info on them??

To the OP, students who apply the typical way (not through special programs, etc.) won't hear decisions until after Dec. 1, or this is what I've heard a couple of times. Plus, it also depends on when you sent in your app -- 10/12 weeks is usually the timeframe they give.

Raffi -- OSU does not consider legacy.

RSquare -- I imagine he did get information for the Scholars program, correct? I've heard a number of people speak highly of that program, and it sounds like his stats fit well.

what about me????: 1250/1600 and a 77 GPA, out of state

It takes time to read though 80,000 essays about mandatory voting and lopsided female/male enrollment ratios.

Interestingly enough, I chose both those topics.

what about me????: 1250/1600 and a 77 GPA, out of state

No! to mandatory voting.
Yes!!!! to 60F/40M ratios at whichever school I eventually attend.

I suspect that most people will not hear until after Dec. 1st. It is rolling admissions, granted, but I think that OSU will be cautious about offering top kids the distinguished scholarship until they see who is in the pool.
