Has anyone completed any of the 2012 applications yet?

the title says it all :P

Just curious.... (:

i’m finished! just not submitted yet

onto the extracurricular and essay bullcrap now.

anyone know how we send our scores?

you do it through college board and the ACT website. when you view your scores it will say “send your scores” and asks for the school code of the college you want to send them to. it’s ridiculous it’s like 10.50 a piece

I am on the extracurricular stuff as well. Also waiting for my senior year schedule to come in the mail so I can put down what classes I am taking.

For extracurricular stuff, did you guys make it like paragraph format or just bullet point type things.?

bullet points with parenthesis underneath saying which/how many years

varsity cheerleading
(junior and senior year)

I’m stuck on the residency section:/ Even though I’m in illinois now, I was born in florida, and my parents signed us up for florida pre-paid, which means we’re considered in state (yay!). However, it asks to choose two things to prove that, and the only one we can click on is the pre-paid (which was an option on the section) but it demands to choose two choices…which, obviously, we can’t do. I emailed admissions about what to do weeks ago, but never recieved a reply. If I don’t get one in the next week, we’re just going to randomly click on one, because I need to get going. Oh, good then! I heard a LOT of people couldn’t find the section that asks for sports, community service hours, awards, ect. Good to hear you all can. When do you all plan to apply? I emailed my counsler weeks ago, asking is she could possibly get my transcript and letter of rec. to me by early august, or at LEAST, the first day of school. No answer back. Kind of makes me angry, when it’s their job to do so. I know they’re on summer vaction as well, but so are we, are we’re pilled down with this stress. Hopefully it’s worth it:)

Out of curiosity but has anyone ran into a discipline/felony section? I don’t think they have one this year

yep it asked me and i obviously clicked no. writefluidity-- i figured out how to get to that extra activities section… it depends which major you click on. there are two ‘yet to decide’ options and the one wouldn’t lead to the section so i just changed it. for residency try clicking on something random and see what it says, you can always change it

Lol ty for the reply :D

Wait wait…Their section only asked about school discplinary actions, felonies, or both?

I never committed a felony but in my freshman year of high school, I got suspended. One student one day challenged me to a fight. I didn’t want to fight him and in fact was scared, but since it was near the end of the year, I decided to keep putting it off until summer started instead of telling on the student. Unfortunately, I met him a few days before school ended and me, the student, with his friends went to a bathroom which has no cameras. I was about to make an excuse to get out of the fight immediately, but he punched me in the face and long story short, I got beaten to a pulp and was humiliated. I ended up telling on him AFTER the whole thing happened, but adminstration said since it happened in the bathroom with no cameras, they don’t know if I hit or didn’t hit. Since the other student and his friends lied to adminstration saying I hit first, adminstration had no choice but to suspend me. Now don’t get me wrong…I’m NOT a victim in any way. If anything, I’m just as guilty as the student who beat me up because I should have told on him since the start. I should have let go of my pride and just tell on him. This whole situation taught me that no matter what, if someone wants trouble with you, just ignore them, the people surrounding you, and go TELL ON THEM immediately. Yes I got beaten to a pulp, never threw a hit, and was humiliated to the whole school, but because I never told on the student from the start, I let the situation get too far. Trust me when I say, I definately learned my lesson. I have not gotten any trouble in school since then and I’m not a bad kid. I’m an A/B student who takes honors and AP, participates in the community, and wants success in life.

Now I’m just going on and on, rambling…sorry for that…but for the UCF application, did they ask if you ever had a felony, a school disciplinary action, or both? I’m going to tell the truth, regardless of my fears, but I’m still very scared. I want to go to UCF so badly and all of my hard work looks like it might go to waste. Just so you guys know, I got a 4.1 college GPA and a 1700 on my SATs (Reading is a 460 unfortunately). Ty for answering my question guys and sorry for the rambling

Maybe if you explain it in your essay, or have your counsler write a note? If you state what you have said above, I find no reason they would not understand. You should be fine with those stats. You’re human, and we make mistakes. We have flaws and faults, and we’re Imperfect individuals. You learned from it, and that’s all that matters. You should be fine:)

ThatRandomDude-
Obviously, no one here can provide you with expert and concrete advise, but I personally would provide you with the following guidance;
Firstly, seek guidance from a qualified attorney that specializes in this area.
Present the school anonymously a “ what if case scenario” and see how they respond. Lastly, lie and chance it ! Also- RETAKE THE SAT !
GOOD LUCK !

I wouldn’t waste your time talking to an attorney when the answer is quite simple. If you click yes, they give you a box to describe your situation.

OR you can make it a really good essay topic for the bump in the road prompt. you can talk about how it felt to be a helpless victim and how you overcame it

removed removed

There is NO WAY to get an attorney. That is just blowing the situation out in the air, and making it a lot more stressful and complicated then it really is.

Agreed, and lying about it is very foolish…

Obviously, this guy should proceed with caution as he used remarks such as, “ no camera’s”, “ beaten to a pulp”, and “ I got suspended”, sounds like a misdemeanor battery to me and battery is still a crime. Possibly a red flag for any admissions committee and with so many eligible applicants being turned away due to financial restraints, an applicant with a potential criminal history may be an automatic disqualification. Excluding the original poster, noone here knows exactly what happened and possibly this incident involved the local law enforcement where the alleged victim signed a non-prosecution form not wishing to file criminal charges against the original poster and only a suspension was issued rather than a physical arrest.
I’d would anonymously submit an inquiry to an official on the admissions committee at UCF and inquire if your specific incident would warrant further investigation on your part and if your altercation involves an automatic disqualification, then I would LIE !

Good Luck !

That doesn’t make much sense in a way to me. I don’t mean to offend you, but how could ThatRandomDude be looked at as a student with a possible criminal history when he was the one who got “beaten,” didn’t hit back, and simply made the mistake of not telling on the other student? I’m sure he’s not the first student to be in a situation like that. ThatRandomDude made the mistake of being afraid to tell on the other student. Clearly, he has learned from that mistake because now he no longer is afraid to tell on a student or even a stranger in the real world, in order to prevent conflict. I also see he made the mistake of actually going to the bathroom with the other student and then attempting to leave, but I’m positive that he’s learned to not do that again either (and that’s for sure, because if anyone were to tell him to go and fight in the bathroom, he’d now leave and tell on that person to a higher authority. Makes sense to me).

That’s just my take on the situation. Plus, the guy has good grades and some decent test scores. That should show that he really is a good student at heart. This whole thing happened freshman year and it’s a one time only thing as far as I’m concerned. He can even get a guidance recommendation letter sent to help him subside the situation. Again, it’s just my take.
