For example, dropping AP physics for music or something. If so, how did NU react? Did they take back their offer or did they not care? Thanks

I frankly have never heard of anyone having an offer rescinded. At this point, does NU only know of your first semester courses? If they don’t know you’re in AP physics now and thinking of switching to music, it’ll probably go completely unnoticed. Honestly, even if they do notice, it’ll go unnoticed unless you have an F in a course.

I asked them and they replied a change in course load will result in a reevaluation of your acceptance

That sounds like a normal answer to me. When NU accepted you, it was based on a certain academic profile. If you lighten it in their eyes, you are no longer the student they accepted.

Of course they will take another look and most likely give your spot to someone wait listed that is trying hard their whole senior year.

Y’all sound so certain but do you guys know for sure? (personal experience?)

No it’s based on common sense. You can’t apply early decision using a profile then try and change the profile after your accepted. Do you think AP Physics and music are comparable? You said yourself the acceptance gets reevaluated based on what they told you. Why would they take a student that demonstrates such a low level of character?

so you’re saying AP physics is better than music?

I’m saying you submitted a profile which included AP Physics not music. Switching now gives the impression you were padding your profile to get in ED. Since they said they would reevaluate your application then you should be asking whether Northwestern will think AP physics is better than music.
