Has anyone else ever had this problem?

<p>You're in lecture and it seems the professor is only talking to you. I mean literally, staring at you over 75% of the lecture....</p>

<p>Now, I really don't have a problem with this, but at times it gets to be a little uncomfortable when you and the professor are staring each other in the eyes. It's so noticeable, a girl after class asked me if I knew the professor because she noticed he seemed to only lecture toward me. Perhaps it's because I laugh at his jokes and stuff, who knows....</p>

<p>I felt like that today. I thought it was because there were empty seats near me so I stood out.</p>

<p>So, after a while, I just avoided all contact and didn’t even look at the teacher while he was talking. I kept my head down the rest of the class staring at my notebook, even when I wasn’t taking notes.</p>

<p>That happens because I often find myself the only one willing to discuss things with the professor in front of the class, so he often looks to me for an answer so he doesn’t have an awkward pause saying “anybody?” before moving on. Sometimes when I know the answer, I don’t raise my hand, because it gets really annoying.</p>

<p>Yeah tobacco… I hate being the only one answering questions in classes or discussions, mainly because I don’t wanna seem like I’m showboating. At the same time, I feel like I should answer because **** it, someone’s gotta do it. So I answer like 60% of the time.</p>

<p>That’s so creepy (and so awkwardly hilarious) when teachers do that. Is it a young guy? I’d think an older instructor would have better classroom communication skills.</p>

<p>No, older guy. Old enough to be my grandfather. It’s weird though, because he is very personable and funny; so he’s not like a deer in headlights. I just feel like I’m the center of attention.</p>

<p>That happened to me today. I felt as if the professor was looking straight at me a lot. I was sitting off to the side, by the wall, second row, not exactly alone or in a big group.
It’s like he knew I wasn’t taking notes…he knew that I was surfing the web instead. =|</p>
