has anyone else not received an admissions decision yet? what date did you guys apply?

I havent either. I applied in november or december not sure. At least we will find out in the next couple of weeks

I haven’t heard either. Whatever. Not my first choice to be honest.

I haven’t heard either, but to be fair I applied on January 30th so I guess it is my fault.

The longer it takes, the more the pain is extended, the less warm I feel about the place. Every other State school (my God, the entire California system!) manages to report and report efficiently. Why does Michigan have to be the Johnny-come-lately? Verges on boorishness, as in “fashionably late.” We are not amused.

I applied Oct 30th and was deferred EA. Haven’t heard anything since.

It sucks because Michigan was my top choice when I applied, but I’ve been starting to lose hope and get interested in other schools, to the point where I don’t know that I would attend UM even if I was admitted now.

It’s pretty clear Michigan is waiting for the students to push reject (the people that they admit EA are often using Michigan as a safety school) to accept more people. They wait for the Ivies to release which was this past week before making more decisions. I wonder, though, how many people actually push “decline admission.”

Everyone can wait until May 1, so only a certain cohort would jump the gun and diss Michigan before then. It really says something tragic if the school really does acknowledge that it is a safety school for the Ivies and actually designs its admissions processes around this recognition. So much for school pride. Basically, every State school is a safety (or should be) for high qualified applicants. Why would Michigan think of itself as more of a safety than any other State school would? I just think they haven’t figured out how to manage all the paperwork from converting to the Common Application a couple of years ago and they are still struggling. As I noted in my earlier post, whatever their internal reasons, it borders on bad manners at this point and people are really fed up with it.

Exactly ^ ^

Maybe the admitted students who also got into their top choice schools will not even bother to say “decline” to Michigan, ever, and just not go there.

As for me, I have acceptances from 2 top California schools, 1 Ivy, and 5 other great schools. Not even interested any more in this school …

@whattt I’m in the same boat as you. I don’t think i wanna go there even if I were to be accepted.

whatttttt, verbatim, my situation too. Anxiously awaiting U Mich’s decision…but I’m losing hope, kinda setting my sights on Georgia Tech instead

I’ll go ahead and put my deposit in for Johns Hopkins and call Michigan and withdraw my application. I know a lot of kids who haven’t heard back really want to go. Michigan is a great school but I probably won’t get a lot of money even if I’m accepted since I’m OOS. And if I’m miraculously accepted I wont attend.Good luck to all!!!

“I don’t know that I would attend UM even if I was admitted now”

Please.

You don’t come back to these boards for info if you really didn’t want to go there.
If history is any gauge, you will be hearing one way or another very soon–typically by mid-April.

Is anybody else holding off their deposits for Mich? I haven’t sent mine in yet because I’m still, maybe foolishly, holding on to a small hope of admission. I know where I’ll end up going if not Michigan, but I don’t want to end up with a poor rooming situation because I held off for too long. I also don’t want to send in my deposit and then have it go to waste by the chance I get in to Michigan. Conflicted…

Still waiting for final decision – all other schools are done w/notifications.

Just talked to the admissions office and they wouldn’t budge on a date. Oh well haha

@SnackyX, my post was not intended to be rude. I am in this forum because I wanted to know if anyone else was in the same situation. I DO know that Umichigan clearly stated that they have until April 15th to release decisions. I personally want to close the college admissions process and enjoy the rest of my senior year. I’m not insulting anyone who is waiting. Nor am I putting UMichigan down in any way. It’s a reach for me. I’m not one of those people who even have the nerve to call it a “safety”.

Applied September 29, deferred EA, still waiting. Bull, man. It’s not like it’s even a safety for me… and I know far too many kids accepted EA that applied “just to see if they got in”. C’mon, really?! Like, why apply if you know you’re aiming higher? Keep the seat open for someone who actually WANTS to attend.

I’ve had enough of this. I’d much rather just get outright rejected than accepted at this point (and no I’m not even lying to myself). Just reject me instead of saying “hmm all the good people didn’t turned us down so we’ll GUESS we’ll have to take you now…”

When I started my application process, U of M was right up there as a top choice but i’m plain frustrated now. I wouldn’t go even if they did accept me at this point; i would like to maintain my dignity!

dreamer, simmer down. they never stated that you would be accepted or rejected by this point, michigan is simply trying to have the right size of freshman class, which they can more accurately predict by seeing what percentage of students they have already admitted decide to turn down the offer after ivy day. this strategy will be helpful for students in the long run, as it will make it so classes aren’t overfilled and students will still be able to graduate on time, assuming the university can actually predict as accurately as they would ideally.
