Has anyone else not received housing?

Everyone I know of seems to have gotten housing. I didn't apply for housing until mid-April, but I still feel like it should be here by now. I'm getting worried they ran out of housing! Anyone else in this boat?

I Applied to housing in early May and i got mine, i applied for an Apartment and i got the one i wanted, i am a Transfer student and a upperclassman so its probably different for how you stand but good luck anyway.

Yeah, I’m going into a dorm as a freshman so that probably makes a difference. Thanks for the info!

I applied in early January and I got it a few days ago

I do recall seeing they assign “LLCs” first. Assuming most kids asked for at least one theme/LLC…maybe they have to get through all those before working on the rest. Did you ask for an LLC? My D got her assignment…last week, like most people. She sent in her deposit back in the Fall. I would probably start feeling uncomfortable by now too, if I were you. Did you have any “special requests”?

My daughter has NOT gotten an e-mail, she had to check her account (see above), were you expecting an e-mail or did you know to go to this location to check?

Thanks for the reply. Yeah, I have seen that they do LLC’s first, but most of the people i know of didn’t request an LLC and receiced theirs last week. I’ve been checking the link you posted AND my email for a week now, and there’s nothing. On rps it does say it’s still “processingmy assignment,” which I know means I should just be patient haha but it has been a week now.

I didn’t ask for an LLC nor did I have any special requests. I had to check the link too, I still haven’t gotten an email. They’re doing it in order of when you applied (it seems) so I wouldn’t worry quite yet.

Thanks. I’m just worried I sent it in too late and they won’t have housing left. I’ve heard about people who weren’t actually assigned a residence hall until a couple of months into school and had to stay somewhere else temporarily because they ran out of room. And there’s no way to tell if there is going to be room until they start assigning housing.

does anyone know how the wright dorm is, and is it possible to switch neighborhoods after you’ve been assigned, I originally requested to be in the northwestern neighborhood.

Doesn’t mean you should get it.

Headiawa: I understand, I’d be concerned too. My D didn’t get what she wanted (our fault, we were given some incorrect information early on)…and isn’t where she wanted to be BUT … I’d be worried too if she didn’t even have a dorm.

BigMike: Wright is a good dorm. Very central, has a food court. I think it’s the dorm used for both orientation and the 3 week “Intensive Freshman Seminars”. I recently spoke to someone who was there last year and they liked it a lot. Also has air conditioning.

BUT…to all-I also heard you can “fill out a yellow card” at orientation to request a different LLC. Perhaps you should look into an LLC that’s located in the Northwest neighborhood and try to get on a waitlist.

R124687 and All,

Great! I did not realize that Wright has air-conditioning. With the tennis and basketball courts nearby, it would be the ideal dorm for my twin#1. What is the chance of getting it or Teter if the student applies very early?

Thanks

I still haven’t gotten my assignment yet and I’m growing really impatient. I know it’s the price I pay for applying late, but RPS made it pretty clear that you should be receiving a dorm room if you apply by May 1st (which I did). So to NOT receive housing until several months into school would be really unfair, and I can only hope that doesn’t happen to me.

Ace,

You cannot apply for a specific dorm, just a neighborhood. I don’t know which neighborhood those are in off the top of my head. But I would apply early since its rolling (there’s no essays or teacher recs, which is awesome) to ensure you get what you want. I applied for housing in early January and got what I wanted (Northwest) and I think that’s a popular choice. So ultimately you should apply for housing by December, but the earlier the better obviously.

Wright doesn’t have AC. I just had orientation there.

This site has floor plans, location, pictures, amenities, etc.

bthomp1, LoonLake, and All,

Thanks for the info. What are the information IU uses to assign the dorms to freshmen? Am I correct to assume that a student may indicate the following preferences on the application?

1) Neighborhoods,
2) Community,
3) Standard or Enhanced Amenities,
4) Others?

Please help. Thanks

Some rooms in Wright have air; some don’t.

Ace, if I remember right, it first gives you a page with a list of all the LLC’s, and you can pick like 5 of them and rank them in preferential order. You don’t have to pick an LLC though. Then it asks what your first choice neighborhood is. (but it doesn’t ask your second choice) Lastly it asks if you want a single, double, or Triple. That’s it then. Oh, and Wright and Teter are both in the Central neighborhood.

Anybody else in Forest?
