Has anyone gone to these programs?

I'm looking into some biomedical research internships over the summer on the almost likely chance that I won't get accepted into TASP. I was wondering if any CCers had been to any of these programs or had heard anything about them.

Thanks in advance for your help. :)

I know housing is difficult to get for the City of Hope program (some CCers were complaining about it last year). You might search for that thread and PM the ones who said they were admitted to see how they worked out their housing issues (I don’t think they ever said).

The Division of Cancer Epidemiology & Genetics program is part of NIH, right? I know they are having budget cuts in a lot of areas this year, and the labs don’t have as much money for student stipends this summer. My D applied to NIH and a couple of their labs in particular, and has gotten discouraging responses regarding high numbers of applicants and very limited funds this summer.

My D is also waiting on TASP. :)

I applying to Seattle Biomed (I am in seattle) and I think it’s only for people in the area, I might be mistaken though. My best friend who just got accepted into U of W went last year and loved it. It’s a great program and you get amazing mentors who LOVE high school students.

You have to be a MA resident for the CURE program. I’m also applying to City of Hope! I decided not to apply to the NIH one because the application is really long and it is so difficult to be placed. The important thing to know about these summer programs is that most are highly competitive- I applied to seven and I think many others apply to a similiar amount.

BioQuest is only for WA’ers, unless you want to deal with getting your own place in Seattle for two weeks for a day camp. ^^

How did you hear back from the summer academy. Do they send you an email even if you are not accepted?
