Has anyone gotten in yet?

Okay, again....

You are not accepted based on getting into the system. It only gets you in so you can check the status of your application. If you do that, I'm sure it will say there are parts of your application still needed.

But don't take my word for it. Call IU and report back here so everyone is comfortable with what I'm telling them.

I'm sure AimHigh is correct about this, since that is how it worked during previous years (at least the two previous years I've been on here).

They just set up the 10 digit number for identification purposes;--although once accepted they will use the same number for registration and tracking everything all the way through school.

This is a little off the subject, but I should let you know they track everything using this number--and they keep track of everything you do. They can tell if you added a class, then dropped it, and then added the class back with another professor--even if this all occured two years earlier. They know exactly which day you applied for housing--or changed your meal plan, and whether you attended your counseling session on time, which day you paid your tuition, or petitioned for the honors program--or contacted someone about whether a class from another college would be accepted.

Their system is actually quite impressive, especially considering they are tracking over 30,000 students a year, and over 185,000 living alumni. It is my understanding that Indiana has the second most elaborate college computer system in the country--right after MIT's. And Indiana's system was the most elaborate until just last year when MIT upgraded their system considerably.

i have an ID too...and like slugger said, it allows you to make a user name! This is pretty awesome!

I don't think its right to make an indiana account just quite yet.

Thanks for the confirmation, Calcruzer. I hope you're enjoying IU as much as my son is!

All the colleges that my two kids have applied to allow this so you can check the status of your applications. It's really not unusual.

I was accepted into the IU class of 2012

aimhigh...there is already a way to check ur staus on your application page...I don't think they would make two ways to check it out...and when you say other colleges do this you are absolutely correct but they use it for a different reason...for instance, pittsburgh assigns you a mypitt id and password in which you cannot change. This is indeed to check your status. However, that is the only way you can check your status for pittsburgh. I think that if IU is allowing us to create an email account for ourself there is something going on. My sister goes to IU and her email sounds just like the one choices that popped up for me except my name not hers.

*My cousin attends Indiana now and my mom's cousin attended Indiana from 1978-82.

I am a caucasian jew. My high school is ranked academically 107th out of all public schools in the nation. As you probably can see, I am really interested in the sport management field. I live in Maryland and I want to go to school in the Midwest. I am applying regular decision to all of these schools. However, I am applying to all of them by December 15th (I am applying to my top choices earlier though). PLEASE let me know my status for these schools. Thank you so much.

Its going to be close with your GPA and SATs, but you never know until you try so go for it.

guys I hate saying this but according to One Start you are allowed to make an IU account as a prospective student. So basically it is not an indication if you got in or not.

I'm applying as a transfer for this Spring. It has said since 12 today "We are updating your admission status. Please check back in 30 minutes"...haha such a cliffhanger 4 hours later...

Have you guys ever gotten that message?

yeah mines saying the same message....plus the system is running pretty slow...hopefully it's a good update.

Yeah hopefully. I just dont understand HOW a prospective student can register an Indiana email address.

i don't either man...well our status is being refreshed so lets see what is going on.

Good luck guys and girls. Lets hope.

Yeah guys I'm getting the same message.

Maybe the processed a batch that are being entered. My son is getting the same message, and with everyone applying at different times, it's hard to tell what's going on.

^^same message here, all day today.

We were at IU yesterday and they said it's running about 6 weeks to process an application now. They said they are swamped and are having another record breaking year for applications. My son was accepted a couple weeks ago and is getting the same message about the application status currently being refreshed.

I submitted my application 9/20/07, so hopefully I'll find out real soon.

Izzie how did you find out that your son was accepted? Was it on the website or did you call them?
