Has Anyone Gotten Rejected?

I received the same email...but I forget the email said decisions were online when I was writing my post. Sorry if I came off as a jackass.

I just find it weird that NO ONE has been rejected by northwestern yet (online)...and that there have only been acceptances and waitlistings.

WOW I WASN'T CENSORED

sorry, 2+2, i thought i would be so um i didn't mean to come off sounding so..****ed off

hahaah we both apologized at the same time :)

i guess we're all just letting off a little steam...i for one have made myself feel better by going to wash u's website and looking at all the courses i will be taking next year since we prob got rejected from nu

I guess the reason I'm being so apathetic toward Northwestern's not posting our decisions is because I most likely wouldn't go there even if I got in. I'm sure it's a top choice for many of you, but I applied knowing that it would be a slight reach. So if I get rejected it won't be any surprise to me.

Personally, I'd say the probability of that is very low. It seems to me that they put out acceptances and waitlistings and just didn't put out rejections yet.

"Prospective students pay $65 for admissions to READ our applications."

They read them.

"I don't see any reason why our complaints don't come warranted."

I do. It may or may not have been a mistake. Either way, they're allowed to do what they want, and you're in no position to be telling them off.

"Plus, if you're not going to contribute any helpful or moral support whatsoever, and insist on making these gratuitous comments, i implore that you do the same and s t f u."

I already did post a helpful comment. Check the beginning of the thread. It's also odd how I got my posting priviliges away for censory bypassing, yet your post remains intact. I wonder who could have marked my message.

"BTW, it's the rude, inconsiderate little kids like you that colleges love pushing the rejection button on."

Excuse me, but I"m rude and inconsiderate? Wow, I never knew trying to get some people back in line was considered rude and considerate. That comment is such a joke all around. You have NO idea what kind of person I am. I may be vulgar, but I'm not rude and inconsiderate.

"Leave this thread if you have nothing better to say - your insolence is not welcome."

No I'm cool, thanks. I hardly call what I've done insolence, compared to your brash, hypocritical post right here.

well Kratos. I am also waiting for my response, and wrote this email. Tell me if you disagree:

I received an email notifying me that admissions results were online at 4:00 PM EST. It is now 11:30 PM, and still no results have been posted. As applicants, we are expected to spend hours of time on our applications, submit them by the deadlines, and wait patiently for a response. I know several people who have seen their results, and several who are in my situation. Amidst an extremely tense, nerve-wracking time for seniors, this is a very unprofessional response to all the time and hard work we have put into this process. I hope that the Office of Admissions will send an explanation regarding this mishap.

Sincerely,

Eric Alterman

It is true that NW is not doing a good job on this whole situation. Why bother harrassing them on monday, though, when you can get ur letter in the mail at that time?
Also, has anyone been accepted as of recently? That is, in the last half hour. It is now 11:13 central time, 12:13 eastern, 9:13 pacific.

that sounds really good to me

I think we might as well accept the fact that we were rejected, it is unfortunately true, and move on. Why the hell would NU care about us anyway, we're rejected--no point filing a complaint."

This is beginning to remind me of absurdist theater, Rosencrantz and Gildenstern are Dead (1969), in particular.
hey merryxmas, you try way too hard to be deep.

Wanted to offer some caution to everyone suggesting "spamming" and writing letters - your admissions decisions have yet to be released... Why make yourself appear obnoxious, impatient or immature to the admissions department?
No good can possibly come from it. The admissions office has been alerted to the problem. There is nothing to do but wait.
I'm 100% sure that their intention is not to confuse or harm any of their applicants.
I don't understand this hostility towards a school that may be your home for the next four years...

Don't get me wrong. I'd be crazy to not want to know my decision as soon as possible. I, too, am bothered by the situation. But to give blame on Northwestern, to call them "unprofessional," is wrong to me. Considering the fact that we have not heard official word from Northwestern, I feel that a lot of you are jumping to conclusions. If they were to say that it was no mistake, and they purposely only posted acceptees' decisions, then yes, that would be unprofessional. But the majority of you are just flipping out, without having even heard anything from NU. Give it some time. Don't flip out. Don't blame Northwestern. Even if it's their fault, it is a mistake.

If it isn't, then ignore everything I've said up to this point.

*** are u talking about dude?

Idk, getting rejected is a pretty sensitive subject. By NU neglecting to inform those rejected, either through their website or through email, shows to me they're unprofessional. IMO, they should've handled this situation by now. it's 12:40 AM

the only other explanation is that they are posting them up on some sort of rolling basis

I don't think it's on a rolling basis, because they notified some applicants by e-mail to check the website, yet nothing was updated for them.

I doubt it's on a rolling basis, because the people who HAVE decisions online are all acceptees. No one got officially rejected online. Considering the amount of accepted people who already posted their acceptance on these threads, it seems to me like there's no room for the people who never got a decision... if they got accepted... Do you get what I'm saying? I'm not making sense.. Oh well... what a way to get a rejection..

i don't think they are doing this on purpose and of course mistakes can be made. But NU is such a well-respected institution that i would expect a bit more carefulness on their side, esp when it comes to such important and serious events as posting decisions.
Now it makes me wonder how carefully they've reviewed my app...
