lol you gave in? wow ok. didn't expect that one comin. um, ya ok i'm sorry too for dragging this out. peace and good luck to everyone.

Hi guys, please calm down. I would like to assure u that assuming things before it happens do us no good.

After reading much of the posts here, it seems this place is full of anger, frustration and dissatisfaction with the way how NU treated its clients-prospective students. I totally understand the feelings of yours as I can relate my frustration and worriedness with yours. However, I appeal to everyone of you, please be patient as there is nothing we can do now and nobody here can say for sure why this is happening. =)

I, myself, as an overseas student had faced the same situation sometime ago. While many overseas candidates had received their admittance packs via Fedex and I had no news from NU at all. Morevoer, with these words being stated on the status website:all decision for overseas students were mailed on 18th March 2005, my instinct told me that I am destined to get an rejection. However, I was wrong. I came to know my decision online yesterday.

I did emailed the situation to the office and with a reply from the office, I was surprised by some facts. Not many of us have realised that, when we start blaming and making judgements, did we ever think that some of us have indeed made the job difficult for the office?
Many admission officers have to chase after applicants for their transcrits, recs and mid year reports in order to complete their application file. And even though many had the time to make sure the items have or will arrive at the office, they simply choose to delay submission process. This, undoubtly, has resulted in delays in processing our applications. I am sure the office has made possible every effort to assess each and everyone of us in a holistic manner and making a decision is definitely not easy for them, with many applications to contest limited spaces, some will surely disappoint.

In my personal opinion, not all decision has been made and posted online yet. (As my situation has proved.) A mass rejection? I don't think so.

Think abt this, if this is indeed a mass rejection, why must they delay the pain for your guys? It is so much easier to make a webpage with few lines of words of comfort to a denied student isn't it? I am sure NU is releasing its decision in groups, as I was told by an admission officer that decision letters will also be sent out in batches. Henceforth, I deduce that AO is releasing decision slowly and they will definitely get to you by Mid April. (Initial projection date).

Having said that, I do pray and hope the very best for everyone of you. If, my message has indeed offended some of you, I offer my apologies in advanced.

Best,

Thank you.

Your words are encouraging and comforting for those of us waiting; however, we must keep in mind that NWU has send us all e-mails saying our decisions have been postmarked and put online. Further, thus far, the only pple who have had their decisions online are those who have been waitlisted and accepted (strange don't you think that there is no one in this pool who was rejected?)

My remark is not intended to rebuke your input; I simply like to put things in perspective. Thanks for your words though mobstermobi

Dear friend Ziggy, yes, I concur with u, indeed, strange it is. I sincerely hope this will not turn out to be what you guys are expecting, because it is simply does NU no good. However, instead of making a conclusion now, how abt let's see what can we do when the office opens on Mon. I wish you all the best my friend, for now please try to keep your mind off the subject and try to relaz =)

mobstermobi, as much as I'd like to agree with you, it's hard to not be discouraged . They wouldn't release decisions in groups because decisions were sent in the mail on Friday.
Furthermore, the rejectees who recieved their decisions in the mail said their online status page showed nothing. I think we should accept our rejection now than keeping our hopes up.

mobstermobi

You write so eloquently. I can't get over it.

My friends, I share and feel your anguish. In fact, I do feel bad with my admittance now. It's like my acceptance is built on your anxiety and frustration..... However, as much as I would like to help and relieve your stress and anxiety, there is very limited things tht I can do, I feel so sorry and apologetic to you all... Sincerely, I would like to hope for the best for your all....

When the e-mail was sent out yesterday telling us we could check our decisions electronically NWU should have made sure things were running smoothly. My dad works in the IT department of a large corporation and he said that if this problem occurred at work, almost everybody would be in now (on Easter) fixing it. It would be unprofessional not too.

I do also think it is inconsiderate for someone to pay $65 and then be told, "don't be so rude and stop behaving like a little baby." Hello! We just gave you a nice amount of cash to read an application and tell me what you think and you can't do that without some glitch? I think what is bothering everyone are the words we are getting from the people who talk to admissions or worked there. The words that, "we are so high and mighty." Damn, I just want to know if I got in or not and you can't make a simple computer program work? And will put it off a day for a holiday when thousands of kids are depending on you? It is just totally unprofessional.

I'm itching to hear because my NROTC Scholarship was awarded here, the sooner I know if I got in or not the better, I can see if I need to change the college I was assigned too and if that's possible now that decisions at almost all colleges are beginning to come out now.

...I am so glad I submitted my application before 12/1 and got it submitted for free! ;)

Hey, they may not even know that there's a problem yet. Don't bash them.

^According to some people, the fact that they don't even know there's a problem is a reason to bash them.

But according to previous posts it sounds like they were notified. Blah whatever, I get to play baseball tomorrow...how cool is that?

If they posted em yesterday you'd think they'd have people MAKING SURE all was going to plan.. they're really making a**es out of themselves

They were notified (I was one of them that notified them), but I don't think that they were there.

Be patient people. You all sound like 13 year-old girls backstage at an N'Sync concert!

"According to some people, the fact that they don't even know there's a problem is a reason to bash them."

I would see that as a very good reason to bash them. I would hope they are working as of now to fix the problem.

I would suggest that nearly 24 hours without any word or update from NW would tax anyone's patience, so please don't patronize others, UC_BENZ....it is just adding to the misery of others, not helping at all.

I've now contacted Dean Linzer of Weinberg, the Editor-in-Chief and Managing Editor of the Daily Northwestern, and Keith Todd, the head of UG Admissions...to notify them of the issue and to ask them to get the problem fixed or explained, or both.

This isn't about $65...it is about the culmination of a long, painful, stressful process - and the error (or intentional "cruelty") just makes many others feel even worse than they have to this point (essays, applications, tests, interviews, waiting....interminable waiting)

They teased people (intentionally or not) and that is just not a great way to behave as a "top national university" Someone didn't do their job, and many, many people are being unfairly impacted by that simple act of commission or omission. So don't lecture and don't demean...either be understanding or stay silent, please.

Please everyone although the admission office was paid to read our applications, I personally disagree with the notion of having every right to blame them and demand everything in our way. Yes, an explanation is surely needed the incident or glitch, however, before the office respond, we all have to keep the matter in perspective. Let's see how admission office address the issue. It is just too early to say anything for sure. Please, I appeal to everyone of you trying to see the matter subjectively. I felt how you all feeling now, but I am sure we all want the best for everyone here and the school right? I wish the very best for all of you. I am praying hard....

Dear Deeboo13, I am sure no one here is intentially trying to hurt the genuine interest of the crowd. Everyone is indeed trying to do the best of his/her ability to help out the ppl who get caught in such agony. I am sure everyone will thank you for you effort in contacting the relevant staffs, likewise, everyone here will surely be glad to have their feelings or opinions been heard. Thank you

"Be patient people. You all sound like 13 year-old girls backstage at an N'Sync concert!"

Agree most people are here to help...just not seeing how the quote above from UC_Benz is all that supportive.

uc_benz, I don't think you have any right to patronize the people who are still waiting for their decision. Easy for you to say since you've been accepted already, but if you have nothing nice to say then stay out of this thread.
