My son applied and after days of some generic message saying they are upating their system, or something like that, today it finally says please chck back in 60 min, we are updating your status. HOWEVER that was this morning? Any thoughts or suggestions? He is going a bit nuts!!

Also does the congrats email always come first? I hope not because he has not gotten one yet, yet he is very well qualified and would appear to be a shoe in! Any input please let us know, we are both nervous!! I am a first time parent doing this, hence the anxiety!!

I live in Bloomington. IU offices are closed today so I'm fairly certain not much updating will be going on unless they input a lot of information on Wednesday and the system is "catching up."

There was a thread similar to this one. It ended up taking several days of that message before someone could confirm acceptance. From what I've read hear the email typically comes first.

My son got the email several days after the online acceptance. Yes, we did have many times that it said it was being updated, but then we'd check back later and it hadn't been - or that updating message was still there.

hi thanks for alleviating a little of the stress! Someone else also said that they finally got their status updated and THEN got the congrat email and THEN the package! I was thinking that the email would come first, but what do I know? Apparently they are inundated with applications,etc......so their normal system is topsy turvy. I told to not check any more, that it will hopefully update on Monday and if not he can give a call. Thank you!

If you think you are waiting too long, you might want to contact the admissions office to see if the application is complete.

My son's high school counselor says he sent signature form and transcripts to IU on September 20. Son applied October 10; we rechecked with h. s. counselor on October 14 and said stuff was sent in September. Called IU admissions Wed, November 21, and counselor said they had no record of transcripts or counselor's signature form. He is sure to get direct admit to Kelley with 3.9 gpa and 1350 SAT, but will the $8,000 scholarship still be available this late. We are in-state with modest income and were really looking forward to the tuition being free. We should have contacted IU much sooner, but who expects such simple errors to be made, especially when the high school said two times that the transcripts had been sent. Ruined my weekend.

bthomp1 Exactly the same thing has happened to my out of state daughter. Applied late September with transcripts and counselor form following. Told by admissions office daughter's file was complete around October 10. On November 2 daughter receives email from admissions that current high school transcript is needed to make decision (transcript from sophomore year school did arrive). Our counselor immediately faxes transcripts to admissions. On November 5 our high school re-faxes transcripts plus sends another hard copy. Admissions sends daughter email on November 6 that file looks complete now. Our high school counselor calls IU and on November 19 or 20 finds out that admissions decision cannot be made because school needs hard copy of transcripts and counselor form. High School nicely overnights transcripts on 20th. Very frustrating experience. Hoping to hear in the near future.

OMG my son is going nuts!! For 3 days he got the message to check back in 60 min and now today he got:

You have successfully submitted your application. Please refer back to this page periodically to check your status. Then it says if he hasnt' already to send his sat and counselor forms!!!!!!!

Whats going on over there? This is nuts! Anyone have any insight? Is this any indication of a good or bad thing? If anyone knows, please let us know.

It doesn't make sense and he can't even reach them by phone!

Yeah don't worry this is happening for everyone. I got the same thing until today, when they acknowledged that my transcript and everything was sent (which was sent about a month and a half ago, by the way). It says they'll make my admissions decision within 3-4 weeks. I'm just glad that I'm not the only one this is happening too... I guess the IU admissions office is really bombarded with apps now or something
