I auditioned for BFA Acting of February 3, and have yet to receive any notification. Up until now on My.Ithaca, it said that only 6 people had been admitted to the Acting program. Now I cannot get into my My.Ithaca account. What does this mean? :(

It means you should probably try to log in again. I know there are people still with accounts that were declined.

I have tried to log in three times. What do you mean by “accounts that were declined”. I’m guessing that this is bad news, but I’m unsure as to wether there is a system failure, or this is how they get rid of the people who are rejected. If the latter is the case, I have got to say that I think that is cruel on Ithaca’s part.

I mean people that were rejected and still have IC peers accounts. I sincerely do not believe that they would pull the plug on your access without having notified you one way or the other. Something is wrong.

The whole IC Peers situation is odd because if you are accepted into a 2nd or 3rd choice major your account remains active and you get the yellow accepted bar over your photo. Not fun.

Very true Flossy. But as an example, I’m 99.9% sure the “thin envelope” is headed our way (based on the number of MT admits already accounted for) and although we have officially heard nothing like CinderellaGal121, we can still get into IC Peers. And there is no second choice major selected at all.

I also don’t see any prior years threads that suggest that they just shut off ICPeers and that is how you know you’re out. I think there is just a problem with her account and that there is nothing beyond that to read into it.

On the acting forum there are a couple of people who posted that they could not access IC Peers and there was a message with a number to call with questions. When they called they were told that they were not admitted.

On this thread :http://talk.collegeconfidential.com/theater-drama-majors/1104504-myithaca.html from last year, several people report that their accounts are not working. When I poked around, I found out that the ones that had posted that their accounts were not working had been rejected. I did not select a second choice major, and I was actually told that I would be accepted on the spot academically. It is entirely possible that this is some error, but messages from other people are telling me otherwise. I am desperately hoping that it is a mistake…

No change is good. I wouldn’t assume anything yet. Good luck!

I guess I missed those threads. But I still say until you get rejected, you shouldn’t lose hope. If there are only 6 BFA Acting acceptances that means there are 34 more to go. At the info session they said they’d admit 40 to net 20.

Just called the school. Admissions is closed, but I was able to talk to the information desk. He believes that it is some sort of technical error- he does not think that the school would take down accounts before students had heard about rejections. Hopefully he’s right!

Some mentioned in a previous thread that admissions told them that, when you can’t access your account it means they are changing your status. I wouldn’t rely on it though, since it is from 2008, I believe, and a lot has changed since them. But it is one more theory to calm your mind on this hectic time.

I was rejected. Received my letter in the mail today. I am not surprised, but it is still upsetting. I will be writing or calling Ithaca to speak to them about their admissions process. I don’t think it’s fair to have people watching slots fill up, then suddenly to have their account taken away( which inevitably means rejection). Congrats to those who got in, and good luck to you all!

@CinderellaGal121. So sorry! Rejections never get easier, but you need to trust that you’ll eventually end up where you should be. For those who may come for years ahead and may look at these posts for guidance, would you mind telling us when your audition moved to received? Best wishes for all your other decisions.

So sorry this is how it played out for you. It would be good of you (for future applicants) if you did follow up with the school. Tough way to have this unfold.

Rejected by mail today, account is disabled

It is correct that unless the school is having some type of IT issues going on with their IC Peers, and you cannot access your account, then it is almost a 90% chance that you have been rejected. My D’s account was disabled on Friday and she received her rejection letter in the mail today. She called the college on Friday and they even confirmed the rejection over the phone.

It seems pretty clear (and makes total sense) that as they move people through the process they disable the rejected accounts and put letters in the mail. Not everyone joins IC Peers or checks regularly but it surely stinks if that’s how you find out. Also, there will be accepted students who never joined. Good luck to those still waiting.

I just read through last year’s posts on this same subject. The rejection/acceptances dragged on easily a good week or two more past today’s date. In addition, there were people early on that did the math on the acceptances and concluded that Ithaca was done with the acceptances. Yet beyond the dates of those posts, people still got in or continued to find out they were out. I’ve concluded that if you don’t know something very definitive as of today then you might as well abandon trying to read the tea leaves. There should not be an expectation that all is known as of this weekend. It probably is not the case.

To the people who’s accounts were disabled: did you have a second choice major? My major changed from MT to my back-up about 3 weeks after my audition, but I have not received any formal rejection letter. I auditioned Feb 3rd. Do you think the account is only disabled it you are rejected from the school?
