NotMama, thanks. Through this whole process my focus has been this verse, abbreviated from Jeremiah 29:11-13: "For I know the plans I have for you, plans to prosper you and not to harm, plans to give you hope and a future." There is a plan for my D's life, and Ithaca's no thank you is just part of that plan. We are waiting for the plan to unfold. I am actually a bit relieved at not having to drive up to Ithaca for the next 4 years.

Congrats to the acceptees, and to those still waiting, I hope that news deferred turns out to be the best news possible!

Hey guys... question: is the decision really posted on MyIthaca?
I can't possibly wait for the letter because it takes one month to get here. S person inside the admissions told me they put results online. Did you guys who got decisions have the info online?

I also posted this to the rejection thread, but my D and I are very upset at what happened with Ithaca Admissions. I was reading all the comments that acceptances had been posted - so my daughter and I logged into the MyIthaca for the first time and noted that her application status was missing. Even though we can see on Common App that the application and the fee was paid and had hit my bank account on December 12th.

After talking to the admissions counselor, all she said was sorry, I can refund your application fee, but the application process was over. This after we travelled 500 miles in a snow storm to make the audition on March 1st that we had scheduled back in December and had received a letter of confirmation. They had commented that she was 5th in line for the audition because she had applied so early.

After several hysterical emails from me - my rational husband was able to determine that the theater department had reviewed her audition and had passed which is fine and understandable, but we would have never have known this as we were actually awaiting for a letter by April 1st that would have never came.

Its hard enough for these kids to audition and these parents to spend money for flights and hotels and gas and stress to have this kind of stress on March 19th.

I'm terribly sorry to hear what happened to you. In my case, I had sent all my application material Jan 2nd but they were never updated on myIthaca! I called them on the last week before the dealine and they told me they couldn't find my name in their system. If I hadn't called I would be in the same situation as you. That made me wonder: they had my application there, so they had all my info to contact me but they never did.

I can only imagine how it is to travel to audition, go through all that for nothing. =\ I hope your D gets accepted to all other schools she is appling to.

Brrrno - Did you get in? I hope so. I think the theater people at Ithaca seem fine and the students seem great - it is the wacky admissions office that I was upset with. We should have logged into MyIthaca sooner, but we never got any notification from them and I just saw you guys talking about it on this site to try and go in. I hope you get in as well where you want.

Anybody that can brave this kind of stress, will succeed in life. My daughter keeps complaining that all her "normal" friends have acceptances to their colleges long ago and are enjoying the rest of their senior year. They are looking at her as if she has five heads for trying out for this stuff. There are a couple of her classmates that are doing it, but other than that, no one really understands this process except the people on this site.

She keeps telling me it doesn't really matter...but I can tell each of these rejections are a blow to her self esteem.

does anyone's Myithaca still list their audition as not received. This has never changed on my son's site. I called once and they said everything is in order but it is scary in light of the postings above.

Jacksdad, my D's MyIthaca site still says audition not received. I called admissions today and she said everything is in good order. Until we have a rejection in hand, I guess there's still hope.

karenteic! I didn't get in... yet!
I completly understand your D, I feel the same way... all my "normal" friends have their life sorted out. Going for what you love to do isn't easy when that's art related... all the other ways seem easier, but once you get it, it will be rewarding! You see, I'm only trying to get to Ithaca, so for me is one big YES or one big NO... there isn't even Musical Theatre schools in my country... so if I don't get it I'll have to find sth else to do and it scares me, cuz i've already tried Architecture and Industrial Design but performing is passion!

So tell your daugther that in my world she is as "normal" as one can be! She is not alone =) hope everything turns out right for you!

It is rare that a college will tell you of an admissions decision over the phone if you call to ask (this is different than them calling you with a decision). I know waiting is hard but honestly MANY MANY MANY colleges do not notify ANYONE until April 1. This is the NORM. I suggest you not keep calling. If you have not heard by April 1, then you can ask when you should expect to hear but I don't think they will tell you the admission decision over the phone.

I sent an email asking if the my decision would be posted online as mail takes one month to reach me in Brazil... they said my decision was posted through air mail on March 14, one day after my adition result was recieved... guess that's a "no" then, don't think they post "yes" so quickly after they get the application complete =(
I'm sad... in two weeks or so I get bad mail...
