@MI3rdClosingAct Thank you! Do you know if the acceptances were done by phone?
Thanks
@DramaRama - seems that all notifications (yes, no and WL) are going through Accpetd.
My D got rejection notice this morning via email.
My S received an email last week redirecting him to Acting from MT. He was accepted into the program but it said we are waiting on admissions to process his admission to the school. I feel like he’s in but not officially. So… still waiting I guess. And once it’s official, it’s Acting and not MT. How much crossover is there if any?
@latinaMTmom congratulations on the amazing news! There is plenty of crossover between Acting and MT at CMU. I have mentioned on other threads that we have seen main stage musicals at CMU with Acting majors playing leads.
@latinaMTmom If you search for CMU drama showcase 2018 you can see the resumes/headshots of all graduating students this year (although the site seems to be down right now). You can see from that which shows/roles each person had and whether they were MT or not. There appears to be crossover in the casting. As for crossover in the curriculum, you can find the course sequence for both Acting and MT on the website. I think there are many Acting students who initially auditioned for MT. One of the acting professors said that he does not know who is MT vs. Acting in his classes. Congrats to your son!
I applied at the Integrative Design, Arts, and Technology at CMU and still waiting to hear back. I have a friend that applied for MT and has not heard yet.
Your MT friend should have heard by now. Have him/her check Acceptd.
CMU MT would have been a dream, but the odds are such a longshot. It was thrill and an honor just to go through the audition process - so much talent in one room. My D has decided to attend a lesser-known school where she received an attractive scholarship. It is an acting program with MT crossover. To be honest, acting is her weak spot compared to singing and dancing, so she will now have the opportunity to develop that into a strength.
