Has anyone heard from Emerson yet?

Blueroses, my daughter's freshman year roommate is a BFA acting major.
She will be her roommate agin next year ( apt in Brookline )
She LOVES it !!
Has been in a couple of movies too

I have heard some rather negative reviews on Emerson's reputation. The discussion sites have alot of students who are truly dissing this institution. I am hoping that they are a chosen few. Does anyone know of the caliber of the acting program.

My D has a friend who is a sophmore there and she loves the program. She also was able to do their semester at the castle last fall and had the experience of a lifetime. Take a look at the website - the castle program sounds incredible!

Emerson really seems like a great program, but one that may not be for everyone. I didn't really feel that it-and its training methods-were really a good fit for me, but there are tons of people who rave about it... it really depends on what you're looking for.

Thank you!

The packet came in the regular mail, and we are in Texas.

So if we don't get a packet should we just assume it's a rejection?

It's March 28th and we haven't heard a word yet either. My daughter's friend who applied to Emerson but not in the MT department got her letter of acceptance today.

SingerNLMusic - Check your Emerson account under Admission Deposit. I saw on the general Emerson college thread that some are seeing a request for a deposit now where before it was just saying open.

Ours still says open - but you might want to check to see if yours has switched.

Mine said this exactly...Sorry but Undergraduate Admission Deposit Submission is not open at this time. So i'm assuming that means i'm rejected.

My D received her acceptance notice in the mail yesterday, so I just checked the Emerson Interactive services page as karenteic mentioned above to see if it showed any change. She DOES have the link for making an admissions deposit. It seems like it may be an indication as to acceptance, but it's never over until you have the results in hand, so hang in there everyone!

My D received acceptance package yesterday! Her deposit link is also now open. Congratulations to everyone for all the many accomplishments onstage and off!

So if our deposit link isn't open does that mean we haven't been accepted...or that we have to wait to hear from the college whether we're accepted before it opens up?? I apologize for being such a hot mess lol

SingerNLmusic -- I don't think anyone here can answer that for sure! I've decided that it doesn't hurt to call the admissions offices directly. You may or may not get a straight answer out of them about that correlation, but it wouldn't hurt to try.

My deposit link is open but I haven't heard anything yet....I'm going crazy waiting!!!! Does anyone know if this means I'm in??? I'm trying not to read anything into this because I don't want to be disappointed! Anyone else in MT????

I think if your deposit link is open - then you got in. Sadly ours is still closed - but congratulations to all that made it in.

My D just got her letter--waitlisted--but she's going to BoCo anyway.

My D's deposit link was closed and she received her rejection letter 2 days later, so I think there is some correlation there.

I got my acceptance but it includes minimal financial aid. (very minimal!) I'm hoping maybe I'll get some from the MT department but I have a feeling I won't. So don't give up yet if you are waitlisted. If I don't get a decent package I can't go.......

If you aren't offered a merit scholarship initially, the chances are slim but not zero that you will manage to get one much later. The only way you can get one later is if a student who was offered one does not enroll. We were told to plan on not getting one. The ultimate good news in our case was not forthcoming until early May.

When you say was accepted into the college (not BFA) was that based on her second choice major? For example if she picked coomunications as her #2 choice, is that what they based her acceptance on? Also did you ever notice if they changed her Major on her application summary while you were still waiting to hear about acceptance?
