Has anyone heard from national hispanic?

Hi! I just found out i'm a NHS, and I was wandering if you had to be a california resident to receive the scholarship? I moved from San Diego last year and lost residency so private universities might be a better option for me than a UC.

I found out last friday.

I found out a week or two ago...I live in Texas and got a 212 on the PSAT...But I haven't been able to find out what the cutoff for Texas was...

To my knowledge, none of the minority scholarship programs reveal their cutoffs. The best that you can do is ask others on CC who qualified what their PSAT scores were. Also check the CC archives.

Does anyone know what the cutoff for California is?

Hey guys,

I found out 2 weeks ago I was a NHRP Scholar. I was actually very surprised considering I didn't do spectacular.

I live in San Diego, and I got a 187. Congrats to anyone else who got it!

lol, i didnt even realize you got money for the nat'l hisp'c thingy... you just need a 195 in florida? thats rad! whoot whoot! (lol, i love the "you must be 1/4 hispanic/latin/of spanish origin" thingy on collegeboard) i took the psat this october and hope i really really did well... aiming for commended (nonhisp) and NHS(lol, same abbr. for national honor society)... any floridians that got NHS? howd you do?? congrats to all!!

My D just received her PSAT scores. We live in Washington State and I am trying to figure out where she stands in the state. She probably will not make the cutoff for NM, but I am wondering about the National Hispanic cutoff. Here are her scores:
CR63, M63, WS67 for 193 Selection Index and 93 Percentile.
Does anyone know about Washington state cutoffs for National Hispanic Scholars in previous years? I think she is border line for this...

I received the award last year, being only in the 92nd percentile.

My son was a NHS in 2004 with 198 score in WA. I don't recall his percentile.

Jjustgo - Did you accept any of the scholarships for NHS?

I will most likely be accepting a 15,000 dollar a year scholarship from Willamette University. I know others are avaliable, especially in CA and Florida. Arizona State sent me something regarding a 21,500 dollar scholarship, but I have no interest in attending there.

yeah, a 193 is probably sufficient enough....

NHS get decent money...Some colleges have offered me full rides based only on that fact.

Thank you for the info. Good luck in your new schools. Just remember... the trick in college is to learn to balance school, social and ECs. You can do them all, but you need to BALANCE.

I am wondering when the notifications are mailed to the kids. Has anyone received the official notification?

I called today and they said the paperwork should be in the mail next week.

National Hispanic Scholar notifications were mailed yesterday - Tuesday, September 27th.

Please post the date and state of when you received your notification. It may help kids next year to have a better idea of the timing for those Early Admission Applications.

My D is waiting for this notification to be official, so she can send her applications.

S received his confirmation letter today (Florida). It's nice to finally see it officially, in writing!

I heard back from them today, September 27. I can't recall what my score was. I think it was something like a 206. I'm in Massachusetts.

I received my letter today... I've been selected as a "Scholar Finalist in the 2006-07 National Hispanic Recognition Program." !!!

Score: 209
State: Pennsylvania

Probably we don't want to publish the scores. Those scores are not released by the NHRP and their organization may have a good reason not publish them.
