yeah, people like you are fine, i'm coming from iu, and i have a bad hs record, not to be pessimistic but i'm counting nwu out now after reading that.

ugh, im with you...i mean i have a 3.72 at William & Mary, but I'm still not optimistic with figures like that.

SuperJad: What are your stats if you dont mind me asking?

I have a 3.58 GPA. I go to a school that has been ranked #1 for undergraduate engineering 7 years in a row, so it's a hard school. As my GPA shows though, they arn't just looking for people with 3.7+ GPAs, they are looking for people who they feel will fit in and bring something to the campus. I'm very involved in non academic activities and had many non academic reasons for wanting to go to Northwestern. They must think that I'll be a productive member of the community, which as I've learned via my current institution, is a trait you really want students to have. If you have any other questions, I'll be happy to answer them. I can't tell you how many people they accepted though, since as opposed to a rejection letter that says "Sorry! You were an awesome applicant and we wish we could have accepted you, but we had so many amazing canadates and couldn't choose everyone, even though we wanted to! In fact, we had 450 people apply and only had space for 449 people, so as you can see, it's not your fault!" The acceptance letter just says congrats and pay us money soon.

Well, a 3.58 in the best engineering program in the country might as well be 3.7+. I'm sure you had great other reasons to go to NWU...but they take into account where the GPA is coming from too...i wouldn't sell the 3.58 in the #1 engineering school as less than what it is really worth.

Thats awesome SuperJad. Congrats again!

I was wondering what you all thought...
I have a 3.3 GPA (I know, not so great) but it was because I had a 3.0 GPA my first semester in college (because of a C- in Calculus) but a 3.65 my second semester. But, I am coming from a small top liberal arts college that is known for not curving grades. Will my GPA decrease my chances significantly?

Where did the link go where you could check credentials? It used to say that you could also check your decision there. I thought it used to be here: http://www.ugadm.northwestern.edu/transfer/applying/

Here:

yeah thanks, i lost that page, too

i doubt anyone knows, but does anyone know how fast decisions are turned around once your application is completed?

I submitted my app in like february, but my final transcripts were just received a few days ago, so i'm wondering how soon i'll hear.

I submitted mine in late january and I was told I would hear by the end of june, maybe july...

opinion: i'm currently listed as a physics major, but i'm thinking about switching to medical engineering.... should i email admissions now to tell them that i want to do engineering? would this hurt/help my chances?
thanks!

you should call them directly, and it depends on how competitive each program is. I'm not too familiar with either one so I can't really help you there.

You can do the switching after getting the offer. Transferring between McCormick and Weinberg is not hard.

Congratulations, SuperJad!

When did you complete your application, btw?

I completed it in March if I remember correctly.

elsijfdl, they told me that i would get a decision a month after my file was completed. I think they got everything in mid-May

Just got an email from NU saying that the only thing missing is my file is my transcript but since thats the only thing, I am in "no danger of having my application cancelled".

I replied saying that my finals end this week and that they will most likely get an official transcript with my 2nd semester grades By the end of the 1st week of June. I asked how long it will take for me to get a decision after my transcript appears to be processed in the application status page and they replied "That all sounds good. You can expect a decision by July 4th at the latest", just if any of you are in the same position.

I found it nice that they they replied to me in 4 minutes...if only other colleges were like that ;)
