Is the Masters School considered a good prep school?

Its a smaller prep school, but people like it because its in a nice area of Westchester County north of the Bronx and the rest of New York City. It's not quite as selective as some other college prep and private day schools that in the Metro Area that are talked about so often here, but I'm sure its definitely worth a good look.

It is an excellent school - the arts are especially strong.

Thanks for the responses.

I applied, and the only bad thing about it I can think of is the low percentage of boarders.

Alyria, the day student population is very active and involved; the day students spend a lot of non-class time on campus.
It's a very fine school and, as drnancie said, exceptionally strong in the arts.

That's good to hear. Are you a student there?

my neighbor is head of admissions there (or at least pretty close). i hear it's wonderful.

They have a "New York Semester" program which is optional but kinda cool; students learn about NYC past and present and spend every day in the city.

just so ya know.

Nope, Alyria! I do have friends who went there, but we all have kids now. :D My older son is a day student, though.

I've heard good things about The Masters School from friends of my parents who's kids go there, but I don't know much else about it... lol

What Muffy is talking about is called CityTerm, and it's pretty unusual and wonderful. New Page 1
Separately, though, all of the grades make really good use of New York City and its resources, cultural and otherwise.

CITYTerm is supposed to be really great. My school sends a lot of kids there.
