Has anyone received a merit aid offer from Butler?

Some schools have websites that don't give the reader even a tiny clue regarding how much merit aid they offer. Has anyone's student received a merit aid offer from Butler? If so, are you willing to share the amount and the stats that drew that offer? (I found one 3rd party site that said the average award was $11,000, but that particular site said that almost every school's average award was $11,000.)

Hi, Missypie. Butler’s a school we visited. Don’t know about their merit packages. Does USN&WR have info on the average merit award that they have given?

My son received merit from Butler this year (will not be attending though). He received the highest merit ($15,000) - his stats include 4.5 ish GPA, 32 ACT. At $43,000 for 10-11, that merit still took the school off our list.

Abasket, that’s exactly the kind of information I needed. Thanks. If schools would even publish the upper end of their merit, that would allow a better analysis of “can we afford it?”

It’s a beautiful school, but that’s a lot of cash! Have you visited?

The rest of our package included a small grant, work study and lots of loans. :)

My dad went to Butler eons ago … it was and still is an unofficial feeder school for Eli Lilly and Co. in Indianapolis. It is a beautiful school but costly - many students graduate with a lot of debt and unless you’re in a field that pays well, such as pharmacy, it’s difficult to pay off.

missypie, when D1 applied to Butler several years ago, she was awarded their top admittance scholarship based on stats. Select students were invited to attend an overnight event to interview for departmental scholarships which, at tha time, were $2000 per year (renewable). Students (at least mine!) were not told ahead of time for that event that some students that day would be nominated for full tuition scholarships. D1 did not receive one but we met another student who did. Butler also had a NM scholarship available though as I recall it was not huge. But my point is that the website did not indicate anything about any full tuition scholarships being available. Pointed questions of the FA would be advised.

My D is not in a category that would put her in contention for anyone’s top scholarship (unless someone gives one for having adorable dimples and perfect teeth.)

^^^^ Love it!!!
