After I submitted my regular decision app for JHU, I got a confirmation from the common app. However, I've never received any email directly from JHU after my submission...
Has JHU sent any emails out after your submission? Because I didn't receive any >_<

yeah I believe we are supposed to receive an email directly from JHU. I received an email and following are the details:

Dear -----

Thank you for submitting your application to Johns Hopkins University. We are processing your application materials and will contact you if anything is missing from your file. In the meantime, here are a few things to keep in mind:

All required and supporting application materials must be received by the application deadline (listed below). Submitting these items early will help us process them more efficiently.

Deadlines:
Early Decision Freshmen: November 1, 2010
Regular Decision Freshmen: January 1, 2011
Fall Transfers: March 15, 2011

You can find a detailed list of application requirements and deadlines at [Johns Hopkins University Office of Undergraduate Admissions - Apply - Deadlines and Requirements](http://apply.jhu.edu/apply/deadlines.html)
blah blah…

so yeah, you were supposed to receive another email. maybe check your inbox again?

What other e-mail are you looking for? As has been stated numerous times, on many other discussion threads here, and on the JHU Admissions site and Hopkins Forums, Johns Hopkins does not have an online system (portal) for student’s to check the status of their application or for the release of decision. With the absence of a portal we do not send student’s any user IDs or passwords, therefore there are no follow-up e-mails sent after we confirm the receipt of one’s application. We only send e-mails to students who are missing documents and those were sent weeks ago. No correspondence after the receipt of your application confirmation e-mail means your application is complete and under review.

@AdmissionsDaniel

Not sure if this is a problem with the JHU email system or what the case is, but I never even received a email confirming receipt of my application. Only when I sent an email a couple weeks ago was I able to confirm it was even received…maybe the OP is referring to this situation?

Actually, if an applicant did not receive an e-mail confirmation of the receipt of their application it is most likely because the message was blocked by a SPAM filter, or their e-mail address was entered incorrectly on their application. Our e-mail system is not broken. As well, may students expect an e-mail that says their application is complete or an e-mail that issues a user ID, but as I said previously we do not send such e-mails.

@AdmissionsDaniel:

I was just wondering, if I still have outstanding material for Financial Aid, will that effect the decision of acceptance/rejection?

JHU is ■■■■■■■■, they are the only top 20 school to never send me mail or e-mail all year. I mean, what gives? Why did I even bother applying if they didn’t bother to advertise

My son always complains about getting too MANY emails from colleges. I think they are one of the few that realize that less is more and almost every piece of info our kids need is on the website. My $0.02.

really, littleinjun? you’re going to make your college choice based on how many emails they send and how much they advertise?
If you’re going to complain about that then you are clearly not what JHU is looking for.

@littleinjun42: your association of JHU with the term “■■■■■■■■” is extremely offensive. Did you seriously just connote the university with a mental handicap? Moreover, do you realize how insensitive that comment was? College Confidential threads are not for you to bash on schools to which you applied; rather they are for you to seek information about schools. Please be cognizant of that and try to keep your rude comments to yourself, especially when they are filled with such ignorance.

No. Missing financial aid information has no link to admissions decisions. The processes are separate. Having missing financial aid information may impact your financial aid package if your admitted, as financial aid is very deadline-oriented.

Haha I got into JHU BME. I guess I’m not as turned off by them anymore
