Does Fordham give you your Merit award scholarship information before you fill out the CSS and FAFSA or do you have to have them on file in order to qualify for any awards? Confused.
I assume you meant CSS instead of RSS… I think they needed at least the CSS first, but it’s a bit fuzzy. I know we did complete the CSS in early November, and S received a merit award with his EA notification in December. No FAFSA at that point, though.
Fordham wants the CSS and FAFSA before the majority of merit awards. I was confused too- but called and they explained
Look at some of the Fordham “likely letter” and early admission threads.
There were certainly some people reporting full-tuition and $15k-off awards in November, before the FAFSA was even up.
FWIW, we were told there would be another round of awards in early Feb.
So at this point I’m not sure since accepted EA but didn’t fill out those forms would get less merit?
Last year (may be different now) my D received her merit award with acceptance in December. I think it was for $17,000 per year. We had not filled out FAFSA or CSS but the merit award exceeded our need so unlikely it would have increased.
Curious what her stats were and if she’s attending Fordham now? Also this seems to be the opposite of what others have said in regards to the CSS. @LuckyCharms913
She decided on another school, which is why we did not submit the CSS or FAFSA to Fordham. Her stats were good but not elite: 31 ACT (33 superscored which I do not remember if Fordham does), GPA around 3.94 UW, 4.75 W, very good ECs but nothing unusual. She had received an app fee waiver (unexpected) so maybe she happened to fit some demographic that Fordham was interested in?
