I applied to Fordham at Rose Hill EA in early September, and since then I’ve received several emails concerning Financial Aid (and that I still have time to submit for it). I did not complete the FAFSA or CSS Profile for any of my schools because I’m not looking/won’t qualify for financial aid and family’s able to pay full tuition. I believe in October I got an email that asked me about this and I went onto my portal and signaled in a little automated checkbox that I wouldn’t be asking for aid, but since then I’ve gotten several more emails regarding this. Is seems from the emails I have to file the FAFSA? Is this true that it’s required to submit for financial aid at Fordham just to be considered for admission?
I think you need it to be eligible for the deans scholarship and other smaller merit scholarships as they base the exact amount you get on financial aid. You’re still eligible if you don’t need need based aid but I think FAFSA and CSS are used in the evaluation. Not required for admission
@a20171 Thank you so much!
Was wondering the exact same thing since I keep receiving emails. I’m not submitting anything
We didn’t submit FAFSA. Daughter was awarded a merit scholarship. She is attending Fordham, so we needed to file FAFSA to claim the scholarship. We did this after May 1st.
@scorekeeper1 Thanks so much! I was getting concerned it would affect getting my decision. Did she receive the merit scholarship along with her decision?
@bailey2000, she applied EA, and I think the merit award came around the notification time, but I can’t recall. The only issue we had was that she had not included her social security number on the Common App, so that when we filed the FAFSA over the summer, Fordham did not link to it right away. It took a phone call or two to make sure her award was properly claimed.
