Has anyone used a Ti-89 on the ACT?

I’m not condoning using prohibited calculators on the ACT, nor am I going to use one myself. I was just curious how strict the testing staff tends to be for people. Has anyone used (successfully) in the Ti-89 or other prohibited calculators on the ACT?

The TI-89 is prohibited by ACT, so I doubt many people try to sneak it in to the testing room. The TI-89 is also quite recognizable; the likelihood of a proctor recognizing the 89 is higher than some of the other prohibited calculators. But why flirt with the rules? Just bring the TI-84, use it for the three questions that you may need it for, and get a high score the real way.

^I agree. Not worth using the prohibited calculator. The likelihood of your scores being invalidated are high.

While my proctor didn’t even look at anyone’s calculators (she didn’t really do anything she was supposed too) I wouldn’t risk it. I used the Ti-84 Plus and did just fine, I don’t think the TI-89 would help much. Besides, would you really want to risk your scores being cancelled and having to take the test another date?
