I go to a school with around 210 students..very competitive.
I would say as of now (going into my junior year), I am probably ranked around 23-25 ish with a 97 GPA, so top 15%. I think that translates to a 3.9.

Will my class rank extremely hurt my chances of getting into JHU?

not at all, just work on those essays

oh yea- u are screwed. I can foretell that BECAUSE you are only top 15%. The only place available is your nearby community college, becoming a pressure washer once you graduate- all because you have a 97 gpa w/top 15percent going into your junior year.

"extremely" no..a little, maybe. What are your SAT/ACT scores?? EC's, etc?

from what I know about the way adcoms at JHU review transcripts, rank matters but is not the most important thing. the counselors explain in information sessions that the review of an applicant's transcript is the most important part of the file review, with the review of an applicant's resume being second in importance. when reviewing the transcripts they look at everything, with emphasis placed on course rigor and overall performance. they also look at grade trends (hopefully consistent or upward) and an applicant's academic strengths and weaknesses. rank is just one of many things they look at on your transcript, and since many schools don't rank, i wouldn't worry that much. just put together a great application and work hard on those essays.

(oh yeah, I work in Admissions and know the counselors well -- that is where my opinion comes from.)

hope that helps. good luck.
