Has My Ship Sailed?

I am in love with UPenn and am thinking about applying ED. However my stats are so below average that I am also thinking that it is a total waste of time. So what do you think?

Essay - Maybe good

Recommendations - Will be good

Tell me the truth, por favor.

race and ethnicity?

sat score, no offense, is absolutely terrible for upenn, yo really have to take it over again. Also, plan for at least 32 on act's to be relatively safe.

tkae some sat2's maybe spanish, is there latin? math 2?

your ec's aren't really notable except bowling and altar service- maybe an essay topic?

if you don't work out ur test score problems, no chance, sorry.

if you do work out your test score problems:
if you are white, asian, or have no real hook, eh. far reach.
if you are a minority, far reach/normal reach (which is a not bad chance, considering this is an ivy league, and a popular one at that)

work on that essay. it should nothing short of amazing, and that would hlep your record a good amt i think.

Not in top 10% of class, average SATs. Two strikes against you.

Unless you are being recruited for tennis or have some national recognition, I think Penn is a super duper reach for you.

Work really hard to get your scores up and try to get RECRUITED. How many AP courses are offered at your school? If there are many, and you only took four, then that's another strike against you. Good luck.

Thanks everyone. I kinda saw this coming, but I will live.

Lucky98: I don't know how the recruitment things works, but I'll see. At my school there are about 12-13 AP's. However 4 is considered a lot here.

"I don't know how the recruitment things works, but I'll see."

Email the coach. It's a must.

Even if recruted, your SATs would have to go up by ~200, minimum.

DING! rejected

If you're thinking about applying ED to another school that is not nearly as selective as Penn, you shouldn't waste your ED at Penn. No offense, but I doubt you could get into ANY top 30 university.

Your verbal score is mediocre by 4th tier school standards. To be honest, you don't have a chance.

"Work really hard to get your scores up and try to get RECRUITED. How many AP courses are offered at your school? If there are many, and you only took four, then that's another strike against you. Good luck."

ACtually that is not always true. My school offers a lot of AP courses. But due to the fact that my school has a major system like colleges and the major that I choose had no APs junior year (and my school only allows a person to take 3 APs outside of your major, I have taken one of them, and the test for a second one so 2/3). I am going into senior year with two APs and taking 5.

My point is that every school environment is diffeernt and colleges know that. A representative from Harvard visited my school during a college fair, he told me that they look at the school profile and they even know about the special way that my school is set up. So tennisace2007 this might not be a strike against you per se, only if the situation I described (or something similar) goes on in your school. Good luck.
