Has This Happened to You?

My counselor is still working on my financial aid file. She asked me for more documents which I sent two Fridays ago. I emailed her twice to check if she had received my documents, but she hasn't answered yet. If she doesn't by 2pm, I'm gonna go to the financial aid office in person.

My questions, what happens if I don't get my financial aid prior to the 9/20 deadline to pay my BAR? Will I get dropped?

Thanks for any help in this- I just don't know if I'm the only one dealing with this.

Well, unless your counselor can waive it for you, I think if you don’t pay in full by 9/20 you’re charged a $50 late fee, but aren’t dropped from classes until 9/24.

@Pipesnake: Thanks, I’ll check.

@HumorUS: See, I actually have been through that- not getting their replies, but this is a little bit different. The counselor and I were discussing my situation through email so we had been going back and forth for a week and a half. I didn’t email the general email for the FAO but rather her direct one… so I know that she has been getting my emails. The delay is another thing. I just don’t want to talk to another counselor and then she gets upset because she gets called on delaying this or something. I just… this is very sensitive and I can’t believe tuition is due in 7 days and I don’t even know if I will need loans or what’s going on. Being in the dark like this isn’t fun :/

I will still probably after work today but this wouldn’t be my first visit there. They will ask me if I have an appointment and I don’t- then they’ll tell me that she’s in charge of my file so I need to speak directly with her. So I guess the only reason why I’m going today is not to get my file resolved, but rather find out what happens if my financial isn’t resolved before the 20th.

I know what they will tell you… Haha. To bring a book and wait in a line at the Financial Aid Office before the 20th and you will eventually speak to your someone and they will deposit your money within 48 hours. Still go, but I’m pretty sure that is what they told me, because I had not received my eFAN. Fortunately mine finally went through. Oh and I would go ASAP, the line is only going to get longer the closer we get to the Quarter starting… It was already pretty long when I went last week…

@UChopeful1234: Wait so you didn’t have an eFAN when you went there? Did they send it to you before or after receiving the money? I don’t have an eFAN yet.

I did not when I went, that is the reason I went… I just got my eFAN at the end of last week, about two days after I went to the FA office actually. I still have not received my money.

I see. Well I decided to call them and they said they never got my documents. This is the THIRD time that they have said they never got my documents. And it’s all sensitive information- like taxes, ID and SSN copies… So I am a little concerned about this.

Anyhow I am to take this documents again today. Then they’ll need 4 business days to review once again. We’ll see how that goes.

Thank you for your help :)

email one of the financial aid counselors instead of the general email and they should get back to u within a day:

isotomayor@saonet.ucla.edu or cmancill@saonet.ucla.edu or chatada@finance.ucla.edu

I know they have a general email on this website: [UCLA Financial Aid Office - Office Information| Counselor Info](http://www.fao.ucla.edu/officeinfo.html)
but just go to the ucla directory and find their specific email addresses ([UCLA Campus Directory](http://www.directory.ucla.edu/)) …i listed some of them for u above

hope that helps! good luck!

^ try those emails and hopefully they’ll help. From my experience though, you have to in person or else they’ll ignore you

Okay it all worked out! I freaked out over nothing but it’s really hard to be in the dark about this. THANKS EVERYONE!
