this is why yale is so much more cooperative than harvard
my regional counselor just confirmed that the first round of 45 has already been notified. After a couple weeks, Yale will know whether it will need to do a second round.

H just sent out rejections. when will Y do the same?

I think there is no more chance of getting off the wait list... =/

i think there is a chance, but it's next to nil

the are still probably >600 on the wl. in the second round, how many will Y take? 0 to 20?

Any idea when the second round will be, if it ends up happening? I thought those accepted in the first round had to reply by May 19th, so I thought we'd know by now if there was going to be a second round. I dunno, maybe they're just being quiet about it.

I called them today. They will be notifying waitlist people this week. The 45 are already chosen. If you haven't got a call, you will be placed in the extended waitlist like Harvard or rejected.

wait, the second round is another 45? i thought it would be smaller than the first round.

i meant 45 were already chosen for 1st round

how's the waitlist doing? I'm wondering if it is even worth it to mail in my final transcript

i'm assuming yall got the emails

no i didn't get one yet.
what did yours say?

i was notified that i was placed in the extended waitlist

my guess: those placed on the extended wl got emails. those rejected have a snail mail letter on the way

really?
gosh.................why don't they send rejection letters through email first?

that's a lie. only because you didn't receive an email, it doesn't mean you're officially rejected. yale is working in the second round of applicants right now, so they are still considering every wait listed application.

is that information official? (did you hear that from an admission officer?)
or is the second round pertinent to only those who were notified that they were placed on the extended waitlist? it's really weird to not receive any email (whether it's about being placed on the extended waitlist or rejected)
but i hope what you wrote is what is really going on now.

Hey guys,
My house just got a call from a Yale admissions officer regarding my brother who was waitlisted RD. He wasn't around so he'll speak with her tonight, but any idea what this could be? Possibly an admission offer or would that be done through the mail?

Thanks,
Claymangs

^^ He was probably admitted.

haha,
Yeah, that was sort of my intuition. I mean, I can't imagine a Yale admissions officer (as opposed to an intern or a snail mail letter) would inform him that the admissions process was super competitive this year and they can't offer him a spot, right?
