Does anyone know?

The admitted students website said that the officers have started to look at the waitlist.

it says here that "Yale College will make first round of waitlist offers to about 45 students this week, Brenzel says"

does this week mean starting today, or have they already started?

they had their first committee meeting yesterday...

which means... some people will be getting calls by tomorrow?

wow, good luck.

Good luck to all!
I'm waiting and hoping^^

There are 1052 people on the wait list and even if Yale accepts 45 of them that's still less than 5%. It seems to pretty tough. Does anyone know if Yale is done with its first round of wait list acceptances.

1052 were offered a place on the waiting list. Usually, 2/3 of the people actually take the spot, so I'm guessing there's roughly 700 on the waitlist.

as far as I know, the first round is done, and 45 offers were made. There will be a second round in June

much of the this is hearsay

My best friend got off the waitlist on friday. good luck!

if you haven't heard yet (I haven't), I'm afraid to say i think chances are very very slim.

actually, everybody should wait until this friday, because it gives the admissions office a whole week to contact the 45 sucessful students.

Why do you think it would take them a full week to contact forty-five WL accepts? They would confirm the list and send emails and/or phone calls. It'd take one person one afternoon, I would think.

i've heard that the waiting list process takes some time, and it is not as instantaneous as many people may think. however, i think that every wait listed student should keep the WL in perspective and not stay dreaming about a miraclous acceptance to Yale.

according to Khoff97, a WL acceptee, a reply date of May 19th is expected. This would lead me to believe there are "rounds" of WL invites. This "second" round would include slots from those of the 45 1st rounders who decline and additional slots open from any other lately emerging declines from the other admits. They do seem to be working thru their nos. quickly (as they should).

but seriously, how many would decline? 10?

i suppose since harvard is now actively admitting people, yale may lose some more

how soon after may 19th do you think we'd find out?

i think a lot of people are actually declining the waitlist off from yale. well, maybe not "lots," but more than youd expect. a thing with waitlists is that youve already dealt with the rejection (well, non-acceptance) and have formed a bond with another school. i think its tough for people who are admitted late because they feel like the new-comer

I don't think that's true at all. A number of people at my high school have been accepted off of wait lists to their first choice schools, and they were thrilled. Also, nobody knows that you were accepted off of the wait list unless you tell them. I know a few (2) people in my residential college who were accepted off of the wait list, and they were just glad to have gotten in (eventually).
