hate the college im at. i need advice!

ugh where do i begin. of course everyone says i cant wait for college towards the end of their senior year. and that was me because i was so sick of my high school. now i cant stand college. i go to a small private catholic school in the suburbs and it is sooooo boring here.

i play basketball at the school and it really isnt going that well. the coach doesnt play me even though im the fourth leading scorer as a freshman. my roomate situation was awful. thank god she leaves once the semester is over. she even tweeted that she hated me for no reason. whatever. the food here sucks. the chicken isnt even real and all it does is send you to the bathroom after you eat it. the weekends are TERRIBLE! no parties no nothing. no one stays on campus and your basically stuck by yourself if you even stay. thats mainly why i go home every weekend. i had to change my major because the nursing program is full of b@tches here and its not for me. so now my grades are all screwed up because i have all new classes next semester.

its just really below my expectations of college. everyone says its going to be the best four years of your life....yeah right. high school was more fun than this. i miss high school basketball and my team sooooo much. in college, sports are all business and my team just makes fun of me allllll the time for no reason.

i would like to transfer and go to a big school like division 1 but i want to play basketball in college. so if i did transfer i would need to find a school that would want me to play for them.

its like i wish i was little again with no worries. why did i wish it all away.

can i please have tips or advice. i really need it. no smart comments please.

If you go to a small Catholic college and aren’t being played, it’s highly unlikely a div 1 teAm is going to recruit you. Why don’t you plan to play club ball or try to be a walk on and go to a school that meets your other needs?

Focus on what you can control. If you really want to transfer, then start looking at colleges in terms of negatives and positives compared to your current school. As for basketball, you might have a chance of walking on at a D1 with a team that isn’t doing so well. Look for teams that are going to loose lots of seniors this year. Or a team that just got a new coach. You’re chances aren’t good but it’s still a possibility.

You can start by looking in the mirror and see what you need to do to change and grow up. Transition from high school to college is not easy for anyone. It takes maturity and discipline and self motivation.

College is not about parties. Playing basketball means a lot of time away from campus and a lot of practice time. Coaches have rules against parties.

If Division 1 schools didnt recruit you and offer you a scholarship in high school, I am sorry to tell you its not going to happen now. You might walk on, but no scholarship.

Transferitis is also VERY common after Thanksgiving, when papers are due and exams are looming. If you persevere and WORK HARD and FOCUS ON ACADEMICS then it does get better and many kids work through their problems.

Dorm drama occurs at EVERY college. There are no exceptions.

Time to get to work and grow up, it seems to me. Good luck.

Did you give up on nursing because you decided that you don’t want that career, or did you give it up because you couldn’t stand anyone in the department? In either case, you need to think long and hard about your own attitude. How are you going to be certain that you don’t encounter a whole new set of “b@tches” in your new major?

If you are still interested in nursing, there are a lot of other places where you could pursue that program of study. Sit down with any of the college-matching search engines, and look for programs that are affordable for you and in locations that would work for you.
