Havard 2+2

It seems like the only majors that would give you a disadvantage are finance and business, so you should be good.

bump (10 char)

From the HBS 2+2 FAQ:

Wow, there has definitely been a ton of heat in this thread…! Glad to see it’s toned down.

Regardless, does anyone think a CS (Computer Science) major at Berkeley could make it into the 2+2 program at Harvard? (assuming that GPA, GMAT, and the soft factors are all exceptional)

I’m not in EECS… I’m doing the B.A. Computer Science program in the College of Letters and Sciences here at Cal. Is that strong enough? Surely, the 2+2 program is saturated with top Ivy applicants.

Is my choice of major a good foundation/fit for the 2+2 program? I only want to guage my choice of major and University; I’m obviously not expecting anyone to “chance” me, since I have given no other details about myself.

Some people say the B.A Computer Science program is a “weak” version of EECS, here at Berkeley. Unfortunately, I also haven’t seen any Harvard 2+2 admits on Berkeley’s career center reports… (from any major! not just CS or EECS).

How important is an internship? GPA/GMAT/Major wise I think I’m good.

But I just finished my sophomore year with 0 internship experience. Should I even both applying? Will a internship at the end of my Junior year matter?

does having graduated from university disqualify oneself (or at least dampen one’s chances significantly) from getting into 2+2? I’m planning to graduate from university in 2 years so I could spend an entire year preparing for graduate school and still be one year ahead. However, that would mean that I technically graduated from university when I apply for grad school.

You have to apply in the spring of your junior year.

You guys put way too much weight on GPA. I applied with a 3.4-3.5 and got in to the 2+2. I had a bunch else going for me (not to mention my GPA is super for where I go to school and what I study.) So don’t let that keep you from applying. Find your niche in industry, make sure your personality is that of an inspired leader, and you should have a decent shot.

I’m an student at the University of Waterloo in Canada. I am specializing in public accountancy and my program prepares me for the Chartered Accountant designation. I am interested in applying for the 2+2 program. My university is special because 16 months of work experience is embedded in the 4 years and 4 months degree program. I will graduate with a bachelor of accounting and financial management. I know accounting is a business major, will this be a disadvantage for the 2+2 program? Isn’t harvard looking for non-business majors?

bumppppppppp!

^^ I have the same question . Does majoring in Business admin. significantly lowers your chances of admission to the 2+2 program ? I am planning on majoring in Economics but I also consider doing a double major in Economics and Business administration.
