anyone doing this?

i'm looking at this program...

im looking at it, but I am a senior (in my third year, however...) and thus don't know if I will be considered. it looks pretty great, really. HBS after 2 yrs of experience (which they help you find).

yea, i'm really split on business school.

not sure if i want to get a master's in finance at princeton or go get an mba.

It's a no brainer. MBA at HBS. Better name recognition, bigger network, and wider variety of opportunities.

I personally don't know how much value the 2+2 really has, when there are a few people who get into HBS with zero experience.

i've read that it's targeted towards students who otherwise wouldn't really consider business school and that its intention is to lock in a more diverse future student body (i.e. it's mostly for concentrators in the liberal arts/natural sciences as opposed to the econ/business kids). so...does that mean for the kids that do business or econ stuff in undergrad its not a good idea to apply and that the chances are much slimmer?

slow down, I thought this thread was about the JD+MBA in 4 years, where the first 2 are at HLS and the second 2 are at HBS.

what is this program?

HBS 2+2 Program

It's a program where undergrads (from any institution) apply to HBS, and are guaranteed a spot after 2 years of approved work experience. It's obviously just for the best and brightest. Apparently, they also attend 2 summer Harvard workshops after graduating from undergrad. I do wonder how much this costs.

Wow. Is this new for this year? Or was there an application deadline for rising college seniors of July 1st 2007 as well?

I read about this and had gotten several emails regarding 2+2. However, it's not clear what the requirements are. Obviously it seems rigorous since 2 years is the minimum amount of work experience for top bschools. I'm assuming you would have to posess a stellar undergrad record too right?

I'm guessing...

-3.7+ GPA
-Strong Internship Experience (Ibanks, consulting firms, local businesses)
-Volunteering
-740 GMAT

This is new, so I have no idea.

To answer the above poster, I would assume it's the regular HBS fee right?

$73,300 for 2007-2008 (all inclusive with room board, fees, books, etc) which is 1/2 years

Ibanks/Asset Managers also have tuition reimbursement programs.

The website says that they only look at your GMAT.

The mission of the program is to recruit liberal arts/science kids and women who would otherwise go to law school, not consider b-school, or decide to have a family and not consider b-school. At least that's what I've read from pretty official sources so far.

So that being said....I'm not sure if the typical econ/business undergrad with ibanking and consulting internships is who they are looking for. Correct me if I'm wrong....just not sure.

You're right. I'm too far into the banking mindset right now. I read the mission again, and that definitely seems to be the case. (Otherwise they would apply direct to the MBA program).

In this case, does anyone know what they are looking for in terms of "fit?"
-Majors
-GPA
-GMAT Score
-Interests

As a note, if they are looking for non-traditional students, it's surprising that they don't accept GRE also (which is the trend for Tier 1 Bschools right now)

i e-mailed HBS about the program. They said it wasnt for me given my internship experience in investment banking and the economics courses I'm currently taking. They said to instead apply as a senior with 2 year deferral instead.

"TAKE THE GMAT It's the only score the Admissions Board considers as it reviews your application. Please give us the GMAT score provided to you on the day of the test when submitting your application."

I emailed them and they said "no minimum GPA requirements".

Obviously they consider your GPA. Expect all the standards of an exceptional candidate to apply here with the caveat that you should NOT have a business/economics background.

They look at GPA, but GMAT trumps all...

I bet you could get in with a high 2 or low 3 from an ivy

^^^No way bro a high 2 or low 3 from an ivy wont cut it....its Harvard don't get delusional....i actually spoke with Jim Amnersia head of 2+2 admissions...in short he said, it will really be hard for anyone who already comes from a business background/ studying econ/finance/marketing/information systems etc to get in...(he said that is not really who the program is geared towards...those with a business background could apply as seniors) then I asked him what gpa is considered competitive he said not much is different compared to regular mba's he said a 3.5+ is generally what they are going to be looking for....your right about the gmat score...he said thats going to play the largest role.

Hi guys can you please evaluate my chances. I am in 3rd year. I have a mid 2 (2.5 or something, I know its awfully low), but I think I might be able to raise it to high 2 or hopefully 3 by the end of 3rd year in April. I am in electrical engineering at University of Toronto, Canada's top ranked engineering university, and according to THES its #7 in North America.

I am positive about cracking the GMAT(700+). I will prepare for it during the Christmas break.

I can probably get good recommendations from my profs and other folks who have MBAs from the States.

-And I volunteered at a couple of big festival organized by my temple. Got a certificate saying I did a good job.(2007 summer)

You guys think I have a shot at HBS, if I am able to raise my GPA to a high 2 by the end of 3rd year?
