Am bummed, apllied ED but am deferred to RD! Do all non accepts get deferred to RD? DO I still have a chance? Thanks in advance for any info

Hey Katie16, what are your stats?

3.6 GPA, 4 years varsity team, lots of ECs and community service, 2060 SATs

W or UW GPA? Did you do the optional teacher rec. and the optional creative essay?

some people get rejected

Yes, I had a teacher that wrote a great review and I did write the creative essay. BTW, I have dual citizenship (Ireland), have 3 APs this year alone and my first semester grades thus far are 95 average (High honor roll). Think any of this will work in my favor for RD? Thanks for any input!!!

your chances are decent, but you don't seem to have anything that really makes you stand out-- except for maybe the whole Ireland thing (but I'm irish too, I think anyone can do that). For other schools you are applying to, I'd try to make your essay especially awkward and unique, because it seems like everything else you have is commonplace for good students. They want kids who have done more than just study hard.

Hey Katie16, I applied ED too and got deferred. I totally understand what you're going through!! My stats are pretty similar to your's (3.9 UW GPA, 5 AP classes this year, all of the optional materials included, etc). I'm an out of stater (FL), so I'm not too sure whether or not my demographic is slightly working against me. Just keep your head up and keep trying; this thoroughly sucks, but at least we still have a shot! Where else are you going to apply?

I got deferred too...
