Have any transfer students gotten accepted yet?

Provisional Admit to Architecture Program as of today!! :))))))))

Switched to Provisional Admit Today Bus Administration

Looks like a lot of people are being accepted today :)

My status is still on application received! It’s been on that for months… Does that mean I will most likely be denied?

Nope. It just means they haven’t got to it yet. What are your stats? (Major, transfer or FTF, gpa)

FTF 3.0 SAT 1290 and local

Not bad. Unless they say no, you still have a chance. :)

Still on the lower end of the boat, somewhat! And I applied for bio which is impacted. Im really scared!

Ksee001, you’re in my major! Finally! We’re among the minority here :stuck_out_tongue:

Now that I know this I have some more information that might be more relevant to you.

So here’s what happened to me. My application was on “Application received” for what seems like forever. Then it switched to “ready for review” for about two weeks, then it was “referred to impacted plan” for a few more weeks. Yesterday sometime between 8am and 2pm it switched to provisional admit.

I called the biology department a couple of weeks ago and talked to them about the admission process. The lady I spoke with told me that once they get to “referred to impacted plan” (which basically means your application is at your major department getting looked over, or in the pile to look over) then they look at each application individually.

Also, to help assuage your fears, I’m a veteran so I get “priority admission”. In all fairness, I’m still not sure what the f that means or how it’s implemented, but they told me that I’m considered before FTF and transfers.

Basically I think your application is just still in that pile of apps that they’re waiting to send over to the bio department. Remember, when it comes to this sort of thing they are absolutely looking for things like upward trends in grades. So if you had a crappy freshman and sophomore year and you picked up your game the last two years, then they will absolutely take that into consideration!

I only have a 3.2 GPA. There’s still hope for you! Good luck!

Congratulations to you! Atleast you wont be stressing out anymore. Also, for whatever reason they may have, its a good thing to have priority admission. When exactly did you apply?
My application has been on application received for a long time, a couple of weeks after I applied in November. I spoke to a representative on Thursday and she mentioned that all applications would be finished by April 15, well for FTF I would assume.

My only concern is, like you said, what if they never sent it to the Bio major department and just denied me right of the bat. Since you said that your status was on “referred to impacted plan” for weeks and I only have a week left. I know a friend who got provisional admit for Bio a couple of weeks ago. As far as I know, no one has gotten rejected yet, they might be doing that by next week.

Did you ask if they have sent out any rejections yet? I think that what’s happening is that as the bio dept makes decisions it triggers an action within the system to flag more applications as ready for review and referred to impacted plan. I’ve heard of people skipping ready for review entirely. It’s possible that as the deadline approaches, the bio department is finally kicking into high gear to get these decisions done.

Have you gotten in anywhere else?

I sure hope so. I got accepted to CSULA for Bio and on the waitlist for CSUF. I’m not too sure about going to CSULA I would have to drive far everyday plus the traffic.
And all of the UCs I applied to rejected me. Its very competitive and I should’ve tried harder in school.

Yeah, I got in to CSULA for Bio as well, but I really don’t want to spend the next few years going to school in East LA.

I wouldn’t worry too much about it. You’ll do just fine no matter where you end up. Besides, for science the quality of your undergrad school doesn’t mean as much. It’s grad school that matters. :D

^ Agreed.

Going to certain schools can open doors for you more easily but you can usually open those same doors going somewhere else.

If I don’t get into CPP (last I looked 34% transfer rate, 55-60% FTF), I always have a private university with 21K in scholarships to look forward to OOS that was more holistic. Besides, I think I might like a nice change of scenery. It could be a good thing after breathing California air for far too long for my tastes. Still, getting into CPP would be nice. I would definitely consider it.

There are a lot of good advantages/opportunities to be had anywhere for undergrad. Although, as a physics major, MIT or bust for grad. Aha. I will probably apply everywhere for graduate school that would be good for me.

Besides, KSee001, you have the next four years to get a good GPA and work hard. So if you do well in college, no one’s going to really care about how you did in high school. No one asks me about my high school GPA or SAT scores. I had a 3.7 and a 1120/1600. I was in a better position than you probably and I wanted to be an English major…Thinking about it, mostly everyone in my graduating class from HS is graduating this year from college and I think I would’ve made a huge mistake if I didn’t end up enrolling in a community college and figuring some things out for myself. I would probably be applying to some crappy jobs right now in hopes of getting one.

The Valedictorian in my HS went to CSU Long Beach and is graduating this year with a degree in history and she didn’t have the stats for grad school. 4.0 in GPA in HS has no bearing on how you do in undergraduate and what you’ll carry with you to grad school. She has no job prospects and is coming back here to laze around at home.

Working very hard in college will pay dividends.

^ Everything you say is completely 100% true. Kids, listen to your elders. We know things :p
