"have attempted more than 97 credits" Financial Aid Denial

I was getting ready for spring semester when I saw this in my student account. "have attempted more than 97 credits" and I am now on financial aid denial?

what can I do to change this?

I have had to take so long because my job left only certain windows of time to take classes, so sometimes i had to take classes that weren't related to my degree to keep myself in school for that semester, because often times classes were at times I couldnt take them.

Now I am within 6 classes of having the degree. 3 of which I am enrolled for in the spring semester. I was working toward a degree in photography, however I decided over winter break that I'd really like to go into the teaching program, but thought it wise to finish the photography up since I am so close. But now it seems like I can't get anymore financial aid?

what are my options here? I am at a community college.

You have exceeded the limit per your school’s SAP policy. Go online and look up the appeal process for SAP. You may or may not win your appeal, but you have to appeal first in order to know the answer your question.

I am wondering once I complete the degree, will I be able to enroll in another program and get financial aid?

Yes. That won’t be a problem. There are federal guidelines that govern SAP, and they really tightened up this year. If you are that close to graduating, maybe they will put you on an academic plan & monitor your progress - this would let you keep your aid. However, there are no guarantees, as the school has to apply whatever its internal policies are to you … so appeal, being careful to provide all requested information. Good luck!
