Have I been rejected-MyPennState questions?

I applied to Penn State and recently my MyPennState status has been changed to ".. A decision will be made in the coming days." Along with this change was a change of the campus information from University Park to Altoona. Does this mean I have been rejected from University Park. I know this campus was a reach for me with a 3.1 GPA but I really wanted to attend, I even chose the choice of the summer program to try to increase my chances. I am devastated.

There’s no knowing for sure, you should find out by Tuesday. Also, if you don’t mind me asking, when did you submit your app?

I submitted my application on November 1 and I believed they linked all my credentials around the 12th, because that is when I got an email stating to actively check my MyPennState account for my application status.

With the summer session, a 3.1 would require 1900-2000 for UP, otherwise it’d be very likely you’d get a branch campus. You knew that ahead of time though, it was always a reach, and a reach means high odds of getting rejected. How much you wanted it isn’t factored into the decision. :s
You’ll know for sure in a couple days.
In the meanwhile, look into other schools.
Imagine you’re NOT in. You can take the branch campus deal and work very hard to get a high GPA to transfer to UP, OR apply to other colleges. AND you don’t have to decide now. You have till May 1 to find a bunch of colleges you really like. Go visit a couple.
With a 3.1, look into Juniata, Allegheny, Allbright, (low reaches), Susquehanna (a match), and, further away, hiram, Marietta, Ohio Wesleyan, Wittenberg, Alfred, Elmira, Hartwick, Ithaca, McDaniel, Albion, Alma, Quinnipiac, perhaps even Earlham and Valparaiso.
Don’t forget Slippery Rock, CAUP, IUP, Lock Haven, West Chester.
Go and fill out the “request information” forms for all these colleges. They’ll send you some brochures for free so you’ll be able to really look at them and picture yourself in different places. Apply RD to a few that you like.
It’ll make things easier for you to have a Plan B in place if Plan A doesn’t work out.
In addition, it means you’ll be able to compare financial aid packages and you may end up with a great package at a great school :)

I hope you get in! Keep us updated.

Thanks for the helpful information MYOS! Thanks, vpseecs, I definitely will.

Change in picture usually reflects what campus you’ll go to. However not all the time apparently. But with Penn State using 2/3 of their decision on GPA, a 3.1 will likely send you to a branch campus.

hi trillavanilla! the exact same thing is happening to me right now, I was wondering whether you got into university park in the end? I really want university park so it would shatter me if I don’t get it

Nope you 100% got Altoona. Thad’s what happened to others. If the picture changes then you didn’t get into main
