I submitted my UMN application (common app) about 3 hours ago. I haven’t received any email from UMN yet. I did get an email from common app saying that the application has been successfully submitted. Should I email them about the same? or should I wait for some more time?
The UMN website says, “Within two weeks of submitting an application, students will receive an acknowledgement that their application was received.” So, you will probably want to call them if you don’t want to wait that long. Although, they may need a little more time than 3 hours. It took my son a little over a week to hear back after he applied at the end of August.
Call them and get your ID # so you can start to track your progress on the Tracker. Don’t wait for the e-mail. This is the busy season, esp. with the first deadline coming up in a couple days.
My D’s UMN id number email took 10 days to show up. She did call to get her ID early but even after the email it only shows that her freshman app was recieved with nothing in the missing section. I know at least one college transcript is still on its way so I don’t know how accurate the tracker is at this point. I’m sure this is definately their busy season.
Tracker will update once they process the information received. As long as there are no missing items, then they probably have everything they need it just hasn’t been marked as “received” quite yet. I think they get almost 50,000 applications per year and now that they have the Nov. 1 deadline a whole lot of them are coming in about now. So hang tight and check the tracker daily to make sure your stuff is marked as “received”. @HappyDad2 do you know whether they will accept that college transcript after Nov. 1 in case it hasn’t arrived there yet? Guessing it won’t be a problem but not a bad idea to call and find out.
My D called and they were really nice. Her impression was that they were not to concerned with items trickling in as long as the app was in by Nov 1st.
