Have some questions about University transfers

I’m 16 and recently got my GED. I’m enrolled to start at my local community college this January for the spring & summer, and then my Plan is to transfer to a University as a sophomore in Fall 2012. The thing is, I’ve been looking and all the schools I’m planning on applying to have application deadlines in February, March and April. I know to transfer I will have to and transcripts but that early in the semester I’m afraid there wouldn’t be much to send, what should I do?

Otherwise I have pretty good stats. I took the ACT with writing and got a 30, have over 75 hours volunteering at a soup kitchen and I’m confident that I will maintain a high GPA in community college.
I’m applying to Boston University, USC, Northwestern, UChicago NYU and University of Miami.

You send what you have. Some colleges may ask you to send an updated transcript after the spring semester finished if they are on the fence about you and want to see at least one semester of grades.

However, chances are that the schools may pass this year and you’d be better off applying a full year later–that way you have some college experience under your belt.

In many ways, you are almost more an incoming freshman student with a GED and a 30 ACT… a lot of elite colleges might not know what to do with that… so really, it is hard to say. I think adcoms might want to know why you went GED route instead of a HS diploma. It is clear you are intelligent enough, but the elite colleges want to have a sense of your maturity as it might apply to you in college.

I really don’t know what the chances are for you this round, just mentioning some of the thoughts that come up.
