have to major in business for marketing?

hey guys. just wondering if it is necessary to major in business to go into marketing/advertising? I would most likely double it with something like socio. or psych or something. maybe philosophy who knows. if it isnt needed, then i'd prob. do German just because i love it. anyway, i'll be at Notre Dame, so would majoring in business open up a better job for me rather than just majoring in a liberal arts degree?
finally, i'm not the best at math, esp. calc. how much analytical "stuff" is used in marketing. i'm ok at stats though.

thanks.

Personally, I would think you would want to major in marketing or advertising (marketing being a business degree...advertising being a mass communications degree...not sure if ND offers it). I'm not sure why you wouldn't. You say you enjoy those other areas, but I hope you think you would like marketing/advertising if that is what you intend to do for a living.

I do believe that psychology/sociology classes would both be useful for someone in marketing. (so if a double major is possible, I wouldn't rule it out).

BTW, one of my majors was marketing and IMO marketing is the most interesting of all the business majors. Most of the classes are fun (except maybe marketing research) and there isn't much math used in marketing.
